BIG-MICK, I am taking it is the very same M.R. credited in the CTF-AMOUDE-2004 map as the author.

I owe you a big THANK YOU! This map very quickly became my favorite CTF map and I hope you entered it into the MSU contest as I beleive they are still taking submissions. This enormous mapping effort yeilds huge gameplay rewards. Lots of little hidden areas to do your thing and plenty of room to play with mutators like Ninja Rope, swinging from the ceiling, what a gas.

So I wanted to offer some little help. This is what I scrounged up:

I think you will want to REMOVE, the reference to the optimizer that was LEFT inside the: PLEASE-READ.TXT file dated 4-13-04

As this is a huge map and I have a below average PC, and took the time to tweak my settings and acheived very good frame rates. I thought I would share my configuration.

AMD 1.2gig Athalon, 512mg, G4 4600 128mg, Nvidia drivers from this morning.

800x600
32bit
Texture Normal
Charactor Normal
World Normal
Physics High
Dyn Normal
Decals None
Charactor Shadows None
Decals None
Dynamic Lighting Off
Caronas Off
Weather Off
Fog .25
At 800x600 higher details are rather pointless, But physics adds to the emersion, so I set it higher.
Instant Action, me+4 custom bots vs 4 custom bots. Homer, Bender, etc.

Again thanks. And I hope this info is helpful to someone.

I am really very pleased to hear that!.....Because FR has been my major worry about this map..

Glad you liked the map and it's post like yours that make mapping worth all those late nights and grumpy looks from my wife...when Ive said I will be up in a minute..and the minutes turns into 3 hours :D ......Thanks...and to everybody else in this thread for your support you have all been great! ;)

PS your avatar looks frighteningly like my reflection in the mirror  apart from the fact that your avatar has better teeth!

My avatar is Mr. Hyde, of the 1920 film Dr, Jeckle and Mr Hyde, John Barrymore, brother to Lional Barrymore of It's a Wonderful Life Fame. Netflix carrys the film.

My neighbor lady flew around inside the harbor and the buildings last night. My imagination really takes off in such suroundings. I think of the slaves, merchants, female life styles, and medicine such as it was back then.

I can see why you are moving on to the Far Cry engine. It is quite lushious, and I know they took a long time building it. I am glad to hear that the modding tools are friendly. The real value in a game like UT 2004 to me is not in the tremedous quanity of content and game modes they provided, (not to mention kick ass AI), but in the hunt and discovery of all the mods, mutators, models, voicepacks, that become available over time. If we have a bad day at work we can always go home, download a new experience, and jack in for a vacation. It is a great release.

FragHouse's new Invasion map-mod, reminds me of some great times I had in elementary school yards at recess, where all the kids were throwing a single ball at a high wall and and franticly scrambling for it just to throw the darn thing back at the wall as hard and high as we could again. It is pure and simple play. A life of hard work is shallow without some good old fasioned free-form playing.

actually CTF-Amoude-2004

Egyptian Harbor remake with similar bases; even though this map has questionable lighting, the lighting is good in certain areas; I like the torches, architecture, great Egyptian detail everywhere (system chugs looking around before start of match but just a little), music choice, huge statues and banners in the wind; it’s a huge map with wide-open gameplay but spots to hide/duck along the way and gets tighter in the bases (just watch out crossing the canal); the bots are good and it has a good general layout and item placement and is fun.
