Clifford is going to pull another "EPIC" on you guys. The game will be another botched console port. The mere fact they are using GFWL is enough of an indication to me.

Call it trolling if you want. I call it "warning you guys you are probably going to get ripped-off again". Also your hurting the industry while doing it since your rewarding the game and studio with your money.

If you are willing to give the game the benefit of a doubt beforehand then do it. But don't start getting upset after Cliffy tweets/writes somewhere: "PC gamers are pirates and thieves, PC gaming is going to die!". <-- As most of you know, that is his standard excuse for bad sales. Cliff, if your reading this: SC2 sold ONE MILLION COPIES the first 24 hours. Take that!

You want to buy a good/fun multiplayer game? Go buy Monday Night Combat on Steam. These guys are doing everything right that most of you care for. This one actually does revolutionize the arena style gameplay. And it's priced to ship: €10,34

It's also UE3 powered btw. Why is BU not posting news about it?

We're following Monday Night Combat pretty closely, however there is not much more that we can do than write a preview since all the promotional stuff was done several months ago when the 360 version came out.

That said, we are excited about the game. How can you not be when it is going to have an editor and be integrated with Steam?

I've played the beta a bit and really enjoyed it. I'm hoping I have time to write up a preview of my thoughts, but at the very worst we will review the game.

This Bulletstorm video is awesome. I love the weapons and environment. I really can't wait to play it on something. I'm still annoyed about the inclusion of GFWL and all my previous opinions about its usage still apply to me. Of course bad PC sales are going to be blamed on piracy. They did that with Gears PC as well (even though it was reasonable to assume it WOULDN'T have great sales on PC for a variety of reasons). It's funny, for someone whose entire professional success is based on selling awesome PC games, Cliff sure hates PC gaming.

This game seems awfully gimmicky. Each trailer shows the exact same thing. My guess, is that once you use all the weapons it gets stale pretty quickly. You can only shoot a guy in the balls so many times before you stop laughing at it.

Let us see...

1. No Unreal Editor confirmed
2. Two weapons only at a time in a so called "over the top shooter".
3. No dedicated servers confirmed (and unlikely to happen ... due to lack of versus-modes?)
4. GFWL

If I were EPIC I wouldn't release a PC-demo either to not hurt sales even more for PC.

All of them are bad except point 2 because I want to do gun combos, not being annoyed at trying to switch to the right weapon. Plus with leash and kick (and other skills that you're going to acquire) you really want other 8 weapons in your inventory just to noobify the game more and being some kind of God.

Then none of the Epic's SP games were hard, all shamefully easy.

This game still sits on my radar and I'm still on the fence about getting it on release. A PC demo (as I do not own a 360 or a PS3 and have no current reason to buy either) would probably be all it takes to get me to drop money on a pre-order. I'm definitely disappointed by this decision. As it stands, I'll be waiting for reviews before buying it and even then it might take a couple weeks since I'll want to see what PC Gamer, RPS and the staff here say about it.

The GFWL thing is an annoyance but not a deal breaker for me. I prefer Steam / Steamworks integration but I understand why they would opt for GFWL instead of getting vendor-locked with Steamworks.

My opinion is, who cares about so-called "vendor lockout" (although that doesn't describe anything reasonable in this situation). If people who end up using Steam tend to stick with Steam, it's because it is a better platform than all of its competition combined.

All these other distributors are doing is telling people "You can't spend your money with us for these specific games just because". People don't care, they will get games they want wherever they are available, so it's more shooting your own company in the foot to not at least rake in a portion of the income that games like MW2 and Blops pulled in on PC. Sucks to be them, they made $0 off sales of the game. And it is probably important to point out that MORE companies are ending up using Steam, not less. Your stupid "protest" is failing.

Off topic, but most of the games with tons of guns in your inventory at the same time I've played had some sort of a 'switch to last weapon' key bind. You could easily use that for your two-weapon combo if that's what you really want.

It just makes the game 100 times easier with all the weapons in your inventory. That's my point.

It wouldn't really matter anyway. At the end you'll just keep to use one or two of your favourite weapons and that is.
Epic really throws a lot of ammo in their SP games, but this is People Can Fly developing BS so who knows. I can't really say anything until I play the game.

Yep. Because the early shooters that had all weapons were much easier than shooters from nowadays. Games nowadays don't try to appeal to a mass market anymore and are much harder than those back in the early fps days.

If there is something strange about this than it's a message via twitter from it's own Design Director.
http://twitter.com/therealcliffyb/status/25979475304906752

How can someone official talk that way? He really throw oil on the fire with that message. Im 'grumpy' about that stupidness...

He's right though ... just look at this thread ffs.
There are more complaints about how the game is going to suck for being 'too consolized anyway' without anyone even trying to keep an open mind.

A demo wouldn't convince such an audience and would be an enormous waste of resources that could be better spent on something that is more likely to profitable anyway.

And I wouldn't be too surprised if a demo was released/announced then a lot of you would be complaining about how it is a beta like you did when the UT3 demo was released ...

I'd swear if Epic had announced a game like Unreal or Unreal Tournament then in this day and age they'd given the same treatment that this game is getting now.

All the old FPS games are barely challenging.

All the old FPS games are barely challenging.

And the new ones aren't? From the videos, this looks like a console kiddie's entry level shooter - no real challenge, just "use the environment to get the most points out of a skill shot". That whole leash mechanic looks gimmicky and ridiculously overpowered.

Sure I'm talking out of my ass here because I haven't played the game yet, but neither have you. I'm just saying from what we've seen so far this barely looks like a shooter that relies on any actual skill.

Doom, Quake, Unreal, Serious Sam et al. are much more challenging than any big budget console FPS's released in the last few years.
