Heh, I still have to get it. Was aiming for Epic Edition, but Microsoft screwed me by deciding not to sell it in Russia (and Poland). And that came out only in the beginning of September - too late to pre-order it anywhere else. Since I happen to be in Dublin now, I'll try to see if I can get one tomorrow in Game or Gamestop, but chances are slim.

Picked it up at midnight, and I have to say from the few matches I played, I'm pretty impressed. At the time there was only 25,000 playing which will certainly go up, but it was the smoothest launch day multiplayer session I've had for any game in quite some time. Matches were made right away and no noticeable lag issues like with GoW2. The graphics have improved over what was already a nice looking series... where'd all the brown go? I only got a quick taste of some of the new weapons, but they all felt good.

Awesome, I forgot MS wants me to pay them to use my own internet for online games so they can give me some arbitrary game stats that I don't give a shit about. Pass. Single player is decent though. Only one truly gay moment in it so far.

Fantastic game so far!

One thing in your review I disagree about is the framerate thing. Because for me the game is butter smooth. Gears 2 has some framerate drops that fit your description. They are there, occasionally, but they barely affect gameplay, if at all. But Gears 3, so far, has been smooth to a point where I would mention that in a review!
Did you have your game installed when you played it? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Either way. I'm having a blast!:)
Thanks Epic!

I finished it, it was fun. I still don't know why the bug lady cared about the locust.

No, I don't have it installed. Playing it straight off the disc, there were at least a handful of areas where I could tell the framerate was dragging. It certainly wasn't going under 30, but it WAS noticeable.

I saw it slow to a crawl once during the entire campaign. It also locked up my Xbox entirely once.
