No, I don't have it installed. Playing it straight off the disc, there were at least a handful of areas where I could tell the framerate was dragging. It certainly wasn't going under 30, but it WAS noticeable.Fantastic game so far!
One thing in your review I disagree about is the framerate thing. Because for me the game is butter smooth. Gears 2 has some framerate drops that fit your description. They are there, occasionally, but they barely affect gameplay, if at all. But Gears 3, so far, has been smooth to a point where I would mention that in a review!
Did you have your game installed when you played it? Maybe that has something to do with it.
