Borderlands delayed on PC

Let the flaming commence! \o/

Taken from one of the comments.

Huh? They know they need JUST 6 days to optimize the PC version better when the game is still 4 weeks away? How could they know that all they need is 6 extra days? If the game was 2 weeks from release, maybe, because by that time the game would most likely have gone gold, but 4 weeks away and they know that they need EXACTLY 6 days to make the PC version better seems odd.

Hopefully that is the real reason and they work out bugs and make the game more polished, but I really hope there isn't some other motive (like giving the consoles 6 extra days of exclusivity)

It is interesting though how they know they need exactly 6 days to polish it up. Why 6? Why not 7?

This smacks of "WTF?" Must be a piracy thing, as usual.

Hmm, that actually reminds me...no one has speculated on the DRM of this thing yet. Maybe it will package some horrendous, abominable thing like many games did a year ago. Sadly, many of us would still buy it

Oh, edit!

Yeah, unlikely that it's a "won't be done" thing. It's likely that it's either a marketing thing or a distribution problem.

It's not a port. It was up and running on the PC way before it was on either console. I honestly don't know the reason for the delay.

Still odd that there's no official announcement made anywhere, either from 2K or Gearbox themselves. A lot of people are still expecting to get their PC copies on the 20th.

If everything is fine and moving along properly. I'll be the last person on earth to even trust anything from IGN ever again. I still recall how one IGN staff said "There's no way you can SplitScreen in horde - Gears of War 2". That guy got flamed, big time.

Mistakes are what that makes us humans. But in the media world, it's harsh.

any info on any DRM system for the PC ? steam version or box version have any secuROM or something similar ?
The game is already running on gamespy, so I could believe that there were other terrible choices. :(

The delay is probably some person at 2K trying to make more money...

If they release the PC game first or on the same day as the console versions, it will get leaked earlier (onto torrent sites etc), therefore people will simply download it to try it out on PC instead of buying the game for consoles. If only the console versions are released on day one, there is less chance of a large number of people downloading a ripped copy since the majority of people do not have their consoles modded/hacked/whatever. People will have to rely on good press/word of mouth to make their buying decisions rather than downloading a "PC demo" first.

For a week.
