I'd say, anyone who likes RPG and shooter needs to buy this and support their effort in being a mostly PC-oriented studio. You'll also get a lot from that 50 bucks.

They touched on something in that interview that I have always wanted to see and that is a game in the same vein as an mmorpg thats a shooter and where equiptment isn't the sole factor in how you do in the game. I have always thought that a game that combines my twitch skills and collecting some good stuff for fighting would be the real way to go with a game. Even though someone has better equiptment or guns in the game, if I'm a better player then them I should still be able to over come those odds.

You're just lucky I didn't quote my favorite line from a review ever.... from the Shrek Xbox game:

"Find X, bring X back to this spot. Find X, fart on it, repeat"

Not sure but then again, would you rather play L4D offline or online? The only good answer is online.
Unless you're WarezMan, this won't happen to be a problem to you.
It's a problem because true geeks don't have friends ;)
Besides ... L4D has crap AI for teammembers (and virtually non-existent controls for commanding them), so as a result it is not much fun off-line as it could have been.

EDIT: On something really related, Randy (I think) said there would be more enemies as one co-op player joins the game. So bascially, I'm pretty damn sure the game doesn't have player replacement AI - you can go on your own.
It's a shame that an Unreal-engine game doesn't feature good AI.
I mean I can understand L4D as Valve's engine and/or Valve's programmers are incapable of creating good AI (as support/team-members).

Or maybe you can't make friends. ;)

Just play with random people, and if you enjoyed add them to your friend list. That's something a lot of people do, everyone's got to take this step one day especially since this console trend has got here on the PC. I'm sure using the PC version people will be chilled about this game.

For a game like UT3 I'd agree, however, the way they've put it is meant for Co-op, I can't bother with a player-replacement AI. "Anyone" can jump in your game with their characters.

I just got back from PAX day 1, and Borderlands was my biggest highlight of the show. I talked to Randy Pitchford for a couple minutes at their exhibit, and asked him about the possibilities of them allowing access to UnrealEd and UScript on the PC, and he said that they are seriously considering it atm, as a post-launch addition.... yay!

I only played it for a couple minutes, but it was ofcourse being shown on 360s, and I can't stand playing shooters on consoles, so I mostly just watched. The really fun part was the hour long presentation tonight, in one of the theaters. First, I heard estimates of anywhere from 500-800 people attended it (it was certainyl a large, full room), and Randy bought pizza for everyone there (musta been over 150 pizzas). Then they proceded to give a spectacular presentation, showing off a pretty damn funny first episode of a series of 'webisodes' that they made, featuring the little robot from the game, and finally played through some never before seen areas of the game, showing off all sorts of crazy fun looking stuff.

Yeah, but technically it's probably 50 solid weapons (with their own reload animations and ETC) with loads of variations. Right? The fact that you have so many weapons is great, but you can recall those guns when reloading.

That's cool to hear, even if I will probably end up using only two types of weapons. I'll see.
