Speaking of which.. we need a 2k4 movie. :)

Whoever has some kickin' graphics should record some demos. I've been teaching myself seom Adobe Premier and stuff... would be a nice learning project for me. I just don't wanna use demos recorded offa my machine cuz my game doesn't look purty to run smoothly.

transferring video captures might take a while, it would work better for the editor to do the capturing...

Taleweaver - if I go down there, it is a lot easier for defenders to destroy the tank. They can come at it from all sides. But if you stay back, the ion cannon is just as effective, and the tank isn't damaged nearly enough.

I was under the impression that people were voting Junkyard just to give hal a hard time, that's why I didn't vote for it. Last night was alot of ctf, but previous weeks we've switched it up a bit more (ddom, br, jb, ons). Maybe tonight will be a bit more varied.
Didn't realize hal hated junkyard so much. Now I just want to play it more ;)

I know defenders can take it out better...To a certain degree, that's even the point (divide and conquer). By advancing, you force the defenders to deal with the tank, or it will clear out the dam control room. This way, about half the defenders have to take out the tank, while the other half protects the objective. Your play allowed 3/4th or even all defenders (I don't know how many guys were picking at you back there) to camp the objective...Making it harder for the rest of the team to actually making it over there.
I might be wrong, but so far I'm not convinced of your strategy.

I just voted it because I like the map :)

Junkyard is very odd... when I first played it, I hated it. I had no idea what was going on. After I played it maybe 10 times, it got to be really exciting.

Taleweaver - if the tank is down there, defenders can go around it. If you lay back and kill them right after they exit their spawn, they have no chance to hit attackers from behind.

Graphics settings aren't stored in demos. You could record a demo on the crappiest computer on the planet with the crappiest graphics settings, send it to someone with a high-end machine with really high graphics settings, and it would look awesome on their machine.

What I'm trying to say is anyone can record demos, it's the people with the elite computers that should do the capturing.

While we're on the subject of video's, you've seen the 2K3 FragBU video that DaBeatard made right? It owns. :D

Is the server usually that laggy (yes, I understand the irony of ME asking that :p )? There for a while, my ping was about 130. I thought I was just having problems with my new connection, but when I checked the scoreboard, everyone else was well over 100 as well.

The server was great for me all night until we got to DDOM-Core. Then for some reason we all started warping everywhere.

Yeah, Junkyard, haha... go ahead and vote for it to give me a hard time.... as long as it doesn't win. ;)

I'd imagine 3 v 3 in Junkyard would be a lot of fun. Any more than 3 on a team and a few people end up just chasing the filled Hellbender all over the (confusing) map. No fun.

The FragBU movie was made almost entirely from server-side demos. Any movie that we did now would be from first-person perspective only.

i ping a steady 150 or so on fragbu server all the time. if it were an instagib event i'd never play it, but it doesn't make nearly as much difference in normal weapons.

and spiney, if your computer is INCREDIBLY crappy, it can make the demos really jumpy, because it can't record properly.

Once again: let them have the tank. While they are fighting it from the front, back and even from above, these guys aren't defending the room. If the tank goes down, the driver and sidegunner pop out ready to attack too. At the same time, the tank respawns back at the starting point.
Keep in mind that defenders don't have to come out of their spawn room, drop down and get into the dam room: if they take the side routes, they'll come out above this dam room as well (and they really did that last night).

DDRRE and me were fragging from Europe, so it's normal to have a higher ping from there. Don't know about the others...
It's not because you now have cable that you'll get a good ping on EVERY server on the globe ;)

Why "Amer. FragBU"? Is a more euro-friendly FragBU going to happen? I'd really like to pop along but I've really got to be sleeping at 1 in the morning ^^

A couple weeks ago, there was a poll asking if people would show up for an European FragBU. There were some replies, and an Euro FragBU hit the scenes...
Too bad, they started it right when I was going on vacation. Now that I'm back, I haven't heard from it anymore...

Once you know your way around Junkyard, it pwnz.

...

... so... anyone know their way around Junkyard yet?... :shy:

There has to be a better way of doing space battles than the Assault level packaged with the game. I know Starfleet Command III may be too slow for some of you action whores, but if they can do kickass space battles where you can SEE THE SHIPS, why couldn't the UEngine?

I work till 10 EST tonight but I hope to be on again. I'd like to make FragBU a bit more regular now that 2k4 is settled in (and my stupid clan is on a stupid break :( )
