AM2 or X2? AMD in any case.

I'm split between a gamer case and pro-case...
Mocked up on the left is a 5 drive RAID 5 Gamer case, and on the right is mocked up 4 drive RAID 0+1 Lian-Li.
In 2 weeks my tax return hits, so until then just having fun photoshopping :)

LOL, contrary to popular belief, Apple did not invent the aluminum computer case.

Why not get it? Its stronger, and its one huge heatsink. Aluminum just looks slick. Besides, the other case looks like another alien ware nock off... or is it? :)

I have a SilverStone TJ6, all aluminum tool-less case. Very cool looking and very rugged. About the strongest (and heavest) case I`ve had. But, not exactly small.

The TJ06 is an awesome case! It has the inverted mobo and partitioned spaces that are becoming very popular in top-rated enclosures. Definately has the room for *extras*. Makes me want to buy a V1000
I would still place RAID cage in the 3x5.25 space and use the 6xHDD partition for something special :)

16 cores?

such a waste.

even now there are very few programs out there that take advantage of dual core CPUs.

am i saying dont buy dual core? no. since you still get a small boost of speed with it. and you are already set up for when games/apps come out that fully support it.

SLI on the other hand...

yeah, dual core CPUs are basicly a neccesity for things like what you said, but for the average joe? it just turns into spent more money.

but i still recomend buying one and a Mobo that supports SLI. even though SLI is more of a waste right now, later down the road there will be a BIOS update that utilizes the full potential.

still 16 cores? no more than 4 would be needed for todays apps. but even thats overkill.

It won`t be a BIOS update, the BIOS already reconizes and is taking advatage of SLI and dual cores, it`ll be when drivers, apps and games are writtin with special code that will utilize them 100% that we`re waiting for.....
don`t hold your breath either!! :p
July or so the new DirectX10 cards will be out. Hope they have better performance increase then the 7900s do over the 7800s.

7900'S were just a die shrinked 7800, abliet lower price due to higher yields per wafer and the subsequent reduction in heat while running allowing for a tad higher base clack speed.
When Vista is released this fall, the "pro" version will utilize dual core. Applications such as Photoshop and 3dsmax already will take advantage of dual core/dual cpu. I typically will have Solidworks(CAD), Photoshop, Max and Ued open all at the same time, any of which can bring a rig to it's knees on their own.

Just saw this baby, looks sweet, only I won't have a rear exhaust fan if I get the PC3077 :(

Ageia is partnered with Epic in developing UT2007's physics engine. A dedicated card is already up their sleeve.
Please let us know the interface so we leave a slot open

NVidia`s solution you won`t need an extra card, the instructions will be performed by the second SLI GPU, they even said it would still work with a single card...though I would imagine with a performance hit of course.
