10th anniversary

I've been keeping this date on my calendar, essentially something i don't want to miss

I think we all owe the community (particulary the co-op community) a big thank you! for keeping this game alive. Over the years people have done their best hosting and maintaining servers, creating mods and security/stability tools to even improve the quality of the game even more over the years :tup:

But the 10 year anniversary is still a few weeks away, and i'm already looking forward to its 20th anniversary!

The coop community is what made it a pain in the ass game to play. Security? You mean creating more security holes like these ppl like pcube, etc?

On that we disagree then i guess, i've been active in the (coop) community since 1999 and over the years i can tell we have all come together as a small community where everyone feels in place. Maybe, but that's just one part of it, the other is kinda different.
Don't try to make a fool of me, especially not here.
You only stick with zora's servers anyway, so you basically have no idea about outside world.
But I must even disagree with Zora's ways, she banned mick.b month ago or so when he was playing on her server and he absolutelly did nothing, he just played there quietly and then left and the other day he was banned.
She must state reason why she is banning peoplewith any reason at all, or it really smells, also smells that she was defending some of her friends hard, that caused troubles on her serevrs and instead she banned me. And that her friend crashed a servers of my friends, so there you go.
Go tell this to someone else and also tell zora to tell me why the hell she banned me and later even mick without reason and before these other things happened.

Okay i'll just ignore this to keep things civil, but nontheless to keep the discussion about the game and community going.

At any rate my involvement in the community is nothing less then it has been back in 1999, infact nowadays i communicate alot more with members of the community as people are more willing to share information, i'm in touch with alot of members who regulary hang out at TS, Msn or ICQ. The community is more then whats going on ingame after all.

Wow, time flies doesn't it? A happy 10th birthday to one of my favourite games (it's 14 if you count the lengthy development cycle).

I remember being stunned by the graphics when I saw a demo of the game at a technology expo when I was 14.

As for the game itself, I can't say that the newer games have managed to recreate the experiences delivered b this game.

The UT spinoff is mainly aimedtowards an action packed fragfest, whereas the original Unreal was more of a survival-horror adventure on an alien world.

Travelling the vast and diverse realms of Na Pali was an exciting adventure - the fantastic journey really came to life with the magnificent musical score from Brandon and Van den Bos.

Deep down I hope that one day Epic will try to recapture what made this game great in a possible sequal or remake.... The game that started it all seems to have been forgotten amidst the success of the Ut series.

RTNP's 10 year anniversary will be after 1 year, 2009 May 31.
UT's will be on 2009 Nov 23, they made their BotPack quite fast, eh?
UT2003's on 2012 Sept 30, an Epic wait for the tech upgrade.
UC's on 2012 Nov 12.
U2 went to 5 this year on Feb 4.
UT2004's 5 year anniversary is on 2009 March 16.
UC2 goes 5 on 2010 April 18.
UT3 goes 1 on Nov 12 2008.

Wrong, ut2003 wasn't released in january 2002, but rather late in 2002. I am sure for that.

I should check my UT2003 Box/Manual (black UT2003 manual ftw ) and my UT2004 ECE case.
