I fooled around with leopard again in class today. Some complaints:
Is it just me or is there no maximize button? I couldn't get a window to fit the screen unless I dragged it from the bottom right edge. I was also disappointed to find that the cursor did not change to a "resize" cursor when I moved it over the edge of a window.
There isn't a button that maximizes any and all windows, but in a lot of applications option+clicking the green button maximizes as it would in windows. Normally the green button maximizes vertically, i.e. maximizes without "wasting" screen space. For the apps I want to always have maximized (like Safari) I just drag it open once and it stays that way forever.
Mouse movement sucks hardcore! It's like acceleration is enabled by default or something... But I couldn't find any acceleration options under the mouse preferences, just movement speed. When I move the mouse slowly, the cursor barely moves on screen. I suppose it's good for graphics development because you can really pinpoint exact pixels, but for regular computer usage it sucks!
I've never noticed that on desktops, maybe it's just the mouse and settings you're used to on Windows? The trackpad on this laptop though works great, and I prefer it to any other computer maker's trackpads because it has multitouch. Tap with two fingers to right click, swipe with two fingers to scroll in any direction, swipe with three fingers to go forward and back between web pages, etc. It's not something you'll appreciate until you use it, same with small features like Expose.
Why does it have to be the opposite of windows with the location of the minimize and close buttons? Is there a way to change it? It's kind of annoying when you're used to a PC where the min/max/close buttons are always on the upper right.
No CTRL C/X/V to copy/cut/paste? You have to use the damn apple command button instead? Come on!
There's no native way to change the buttons, though I'm sure there's an app out there somewhere. It annoyed me at first too, but I got used to it after a day or so.
The command button is essentially the same as control on windows, any Ctrl + X shortcut on windows is in general Command + X on Mac. I never did figure out why they needed another, actual "control," but it's pretty sweet in that if you hold down control and swipe with two fingers on the trackpad, the entire screen zooms in an out. I can make this smiley face

fill up the whole screen for example.
