Canada... eh
HellBoy II: The Golden Army 7/10 - It was a good movie, exceptional CG and creatures, except for Hellboy was a bit off I found. Also, the story was good cept for the Abe - princess love story and the princess was such a terrible actress. I just wish their was more consquence when the Golden Army was unleashed.

Stop-Loss 8/10 maybe?

It's about some young guys who get out from Iraq and delist from the Army, only to be told that they have to go back. They don't have a choice in the matter, even though they signed their leave papers. Apparently the president can order you back into the Army wether you like it or not. It's called a "Stop-Loss" and as they say in the movie, it's a sort of "back door draft". Tons of emotion in this film. I mean alot.

I don't know if it was the pills I'm on (see my other thread about me being really sick) or if the movie was just that well done, but I was pretty emotional throughout the film. Maybe because quite a few of my cousins have been there. It's a depressing movie to say the least, but it's also a true story (as far as what soilders are like when they come back and what they go through).

Usually I don't care about movies like this. They are too over the top and hollywood. This one stayed local. And I really like it alot. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Ocean's Thirteen - 7.8/10

Not a bad movie, was good for a change to see a movie where high money was involved and no one got killed in the process. May be a spoiler, but the parachute style theft got served, big time lol.

Picked up AvP2: Requem yesterday... Loads of ketchup, orgy and spam. Apart from that, I thought that this movie was trying to borrow parts from original Aliens and Predator movies but IMHO it didn;'t turn out that well. This movie is failure IMHO. 2/10 for the effort and all that CGI footage. -8 for everything else.

The most disappointing thing about the AVP movies (whether you thought they were alright or not) was that they interrupted plans for a Cameron/Scott Alien5 project. I mean, if you're going to sideswipe that kind of potential...you better do something truly awesome, and the AVP movies didn't. Requiem, for all its promises, was a Sci-Fi channel exclusive monster mash at best. While I did find aspects of Anderson's AVP movie entertaining, let's not kid ourselves. A chance to do something really awesome was fumbled.

I found to the movie the movies not relate to their titles. They should be called

Predator's Day Off

and Predators day Off: Alien has sex with predator xxx edition

It didn't seem like the aliens were in the versus part, the predators were stealing the show, I would of thought the aliens would of been a match to predators, but I felt as if the aliens were lower class rats compared to predators, and humans didnt even feel like they were just ants that can be smushed easily it was as if they somehow gained new abilities to destroy the antagonists, which before the antagonists would deny all but one human a chance to escape and live on.

The first alien vs predator, I thought would be a fight but it was just a game, and the queen is a bit**, the second one, the predator sucked and was a noob at owning, that creature (alienator as I call it) was a shame to all its ancestors, I mean if it has predator/alien genes wouldn't be way too strong for the predator, but yet the predator was still a match and still I did not feel as those the New offspring specie (Alienator) was anything special, it did not leave much of a impact in the spaces of our mind, Aliens and the predators have. What was the point of creating this fictional charactor of antagonism as character of impact and change, and it felt like only a bystander and somehow killed a few on its trail then gets hurt by a somewhat suppose to be a weaker enemy so easily.

Only thing that can really wash this bad taste in my mouth for eating this spoiled egg, Final Fantasy spirits within 9/10.

Yeah, how about that?

Meet Dave-5.5/10 An inconsistently funny but sometimes clever romp that could only be pulled off by the likes of Eddy Murphy (or possible Carey).

Firewall 3/10

Tension-free Harrison Ford star vehicle. Paul Bettany has insufficent wattage to be the baddie and the other characters are so lazily sketched-in that one really doesn't care about their fate.

The (mercifully brief) network security techno-babble is hilarious (+1 on the score because I laughed).

And to think...that little kid from Firewall is gonna be the young James T. Kirk.

last stuff I watched tv wise: dexter season 1+2
8.5/10

I might be getting the first Dexter book to see if that's even more intresting.

Your post inspired me to try series 1 again. I realised that I hadn't watched as much as I had thought (only 3 episodes).

The feeling of discomfort that I had watching a serial killer as the viewpoint/hero character did gradually fade and I enjoyed the whole series - 7/10.

It was interesting to compare with the choices made in the book. In general, I preferred the ending in the TV series - that last moment
of choice (sorry to be elliptical but I don't want to spoil things) had much more resonance for me than the book's ending.

Julie Benz did a really good job of making the character of Rita much more memorable than the Rita of the book (insufficiently developed in the book IMHO).

I haven't seen series 2 & 3 but the third book acquires a rather fantastic tinge and the monologue in the TV series seems to be avoiding that route.

And, of course, some of the secondary characters have different arcs.

Still, OK read of a really good idea and the TV series (so far) improves on that.

A Love Song For Bobby Long-5/10 There was something really average about this flick. For me it just didn't connect although it was an interesting exercise in literary references etc.

I really don't think the acting or casting choices made it.

Shortbus- 3/10 A boring softcore porn romp about people of straight, gay and bi persuasions who are all hung up about themselves, their sex lives and the world in general.

Obviously the director had some issues that I don't get or don't want to get. For f**k's sake if you have to make porn make porn.

This movie was just stupid. Over-thinking sex like this is way too Woody Allen for me.......
