Alpha Dog - 8.5 / 10

This was one hell of an entertaining film. Kind of a Goodfellas of the younger generation, mixed with some of Bully. I like how they labeled witnesses throughout the film, and gave you exact times and settings of certain events, as it is based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood. Very depressing ending.

Great story and based on a true one. I wasn't sure how much of it was real or not as some of it seemed unbelievable. Then I checked out Jim Carey's character's wiki entry and **** it's all real.

The Social Network 7/10

Andy Sorkin's dialog is awesome as expected,
I'm in two minds as to whether or not to go and see this. A script by Aaron Sorkin is a big attraction but there again, it's Facebook and the associated nonsense (no point in putting what I really think - the filters won't allow it:))

Despicable Me 5.5/10

Never gets above mildly amusing (but fairly consistently so) for adults. Great fun for the kids though. Take the kids and a good book if you are going to see it.

It's a film about isolation and betrayal, not about web design. In every aspect of the production - direction, pacing, script, soundtrack, acting, everything - it is absolutely top-notch. Given that it has the additional element of rising beyond being 'just a movie' to say something about the age we're living in, it gets a definite 10/10 from me.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). Really, it sucked major balls. It felt too rushed, and with the exception of the kid in jail getting mind-f*cked for about 3 seconds by Freddie, the entire movie failed to have the same effect as the original.

You know when the only hot chick in the movie gets killed early on that the flick sucks major balls. Did I mention the film sucked major balls?

This is what, the ninth-tenth movie? That tells me all I need to know. And most of these reboots suck major balls anyway.

Gah they're even planning a second movie

Only ones I've enjoyed watching were the first and third one. The second one wasn't really bad, though. The fourth one was ok, but not that necessary. And then it all started to fall down like a deck of cards. Milk the cow...

What's next, "Freddy's poop puppets"?

Let The Right One In - 9/10

Thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking Swedish vampire movie (not porn - sorry) based around two children who find friendship and love in very unusual circumstances.
The young boy is a bullied school child living in suburban apartment block and the girl that moves in next door is a vampire.
Oscar winning performances from the two kids here in one of the best movies I've seen in some considerable time.

I'm not a facebook person, I've dodged it despite people telling me to get an account. I have no relation to facebook other than 'that thing I don't do that people around me are addicted to', but the movie is not really that focused on facebook as it is on the people and the circumstances around facebook that made it happen. I can't persuade you, of course, but as a fellow anti-facebooker I'd recommend it.

The movie was average at best. Jackie Earle Haley was hit or miss when it came to Freddy. He would either nab the voice or he didn't, and the one liners were oh so lame. And did half the cast really need to look like they could cut themselves at any given moment?

This is typical Hollywood thinking though. They look at dollars made instead of actual reviews on what people thought. Yeah sure a movie makes triple its budget, but if it holds a score of 20%, don't you think it would be a bad idea to make a sequel?

I think facebook was made for all the computer iliterates so they can spend more time on the pc whereas every PC user I know in RL who already was a PC user back in the doom age avoids facebook like the plague.

Into the Wild 9/10

I caught this movie on TV and staid for a couple minutes to enjoy the great scenery. ten minutes later I was back on the channel playing this gem.

Synopsis, a young guy leaves everything behind to go chase his dream of going to Alaska. You dont need to know more.

Saw a couple of the newer ones recently...

Red - 8/10.

Kinda humorous in spots, certainly a different kind of action flick. I liked it.

Megamind - 8/10
Saw this one in 3d/Imax. First time I've seen a movie that way, it was very very cool.
I am partial to Will Ferrell's flix, and this one doesn't disappoint the way others have...
