On 2012:

Recently I watched a small bit of this movie (on the news). John cusack racing against the tremendous speed of an earthquake, ripping the street to shreds behind them, in a typical suburban neighborhood iirc. With cars blocking the passage etc.

But boy did he outran that darn earthquake or what!!!

No way in hell I'm going to see this ridiculous waste of...

:) It just tells me plenty. Like you say, nice visuals and effects but other than that..why bother.

Its a John Cusack movie so I have to ask this.
Was Jeremy Piven in it?

The crazy new cameras that were made to shoot everything in focus regardless of where it was in the scene made it look like it was composited in some way, but it just looks amazing in a surreal way.

Actually, they explain in the making-of docs on how they actually took different hi-res footage and composited it together to keep that cartoony "in-focus" look. I'd like to see some similar old-school animes to be redone as movies in similar innovative ways.

The subject could have been interesting, but this movie is a joke. The acting sucked, the story didn't exist, the screenplay was random one liners and overly narrative rants since hollywood thinks everyone who visits cinemas are retards. I'm mad since I was tricked into wasting 3 hours of my life on this, I really feel we all should sue the director.

Yes I know I shouldn't have expected more from the man behind Indipendence day, but I could never believe how bad it actually was.

Gerhold Selle - Rentner. No IMDB entry. From the festival's program: "A spry pensioner looking for a task - the rest of his life is long, after all." A good one, showing the emptiness that fills the day for many pensioners once they retire from their job and how hard it is to fill it with activities. The words and numbers interspersed via a text overlay while the pensioner speaks were an original idea. 7/10

The Time Of Their Lives. The counter-program: a group of very old women (two of them 101 and 102) who live in an special home for the "active elderly" - and that's what they are. Anti-war campaigners, newspaper columnists, novelists, full of purpose. A lovely movie about lovely ladies that are wise, funny and very much aware. 8/10

Sječaš Li Se Dolly Bell?. Not my favourite Kusturica movie and very different from his later works, but unique in its own way and painting an interesting picture of life during the early years of socialism in Yugoslavia. Slavko Štimac is great in this one. 7/10

Paths Of Glory. Rather impressive pictures of the wave attacks of the First World War, considering the year this movie was produced in. There are some scenes using shots/counter-shots in a fantastic way. The ending sequence is excellent, and does restore a little hope in humanity. 9/10

Weird Science. Retarded depiction of computers ahoy! It's downright embarassing. It's standard losers become winners fare, and it's sub-par at that. The dialogue follows all teen flick cliches imaginable: "I didn't know you guys had so many friends." Guess the next line! The saving graces of the movie are its 80s charm and all the little stabs at other films. 6/10

Law Abiding Citizen - 8.5/10 - Great movie. It's a nice self-contained story about one man's attempt to shed light on the imperfections of the justice system, which ultimately hinge on the individual decisions of imperfect people and their personal wants, needs and aspirations, and their own sense of what justice is. Gerard Butler's character in the film is interesting but I'd be interested to see how or if this story is in book form, as the details would be interesting and for a movie there's just not enough time to go into the details. Thankfully it's not a long-winded movie about legalese and deals with the broader picture and concept of the justice system's faults.

It was actually a really enjoyable movie. It did have it's own twist to it, rather than being a movie which involves Jason and 10,000 + victims later.

The very very very last clip at the end made be rate this movie alittle lower than what I would have originaly.

Seriously, Jason jumping out of water, through a dock to grab onto the girl was just plain stupid. Jason is deathly afraid of water, which to me, rules out the fact that he's a bad ass serial killer who will jump through sh*t and murder your face..... yes I've been drinking.

Couple things wrong with that.

First he was never afraid of water to begin with, that was the director of Freddy VS Jason's idea, which was dumb. Second it was intended as a dream sequence, at least that is the direction alot of people are taking.

Also did you watch the theatrical or Killer Cut? The latter adds more scenes and makes more sense out of a couple things, but also brings up a big plot hole that should have been left out period

In the Killer Cut Whitney escapes, only to be captured again later in the movie. What isn't explained is how he got her back to his lair and had time to cut the power to the house.

People that have a fascination with a Mayan calendar. Assuming they predicted the end of all existence, kind of sucks they never predicted their own demise.

The calendar in my kitchen ends at December 31, but guess what... January first comes the next day. 2012 such a retarded premise.

The Matrix - 10/10

Yes, I've seriously never watched it before. My friend had mentioned that they were having a marathon on TV of all 3 movies, so I figured I might as well watch to see what I was missing. Why did it take me this long to watch it? I have no clue. But it certainly was worth watching. I may have to watch it again soon.
