GTAIV thread anyone?

Ah, I guess that was a little ambiguous, but no sarcasm.

aughugh recently decided i need to 100% this game.
shooting pigeons is driving me insane,
and all ive got to look forward to is doing some races, odd jobs and stunt jumps after :'(

Before the trophy patch I had 99% completion and only needed a single pigeon, but I had no clue which one I was missing. I had to go double check each area where there was supposed to be one, but unless I specifically remember shooting one there I could never be 100% sure I wasn't somehow missing it again. That drove me insane.

New patch has done the following things:

• Microstuttering if you set some settings to medium (see GTAForums.com, seems like GT-200 video card owners like me have the same problem)
• ATI users got SCREWED on version 1.0.3.0. Some ATI users can't even start up the game anymore.
• Many users like myself have installed mods, but the new 1.0.3.0 patch thinks that my mods are "piracy", and therefore I suffer from the "drunk camera" problem because the game does that as an anti-piracy measure. GREAT, SO MODS ARE ILLEGAL NOW. No more GTA modding. What the f*ck, Rockstar?
• Shadows are now more pixelated, but if you install GTAForums.com's "Ultimate Graphics Tweak" to get the right shadows, the game reverts to "drunken camera", rendering the game unplayable (see point #3)
• Draw distance is all messed up now. You can say gray boxes first before they turn into proper meshes in the distance. Never had this problemm with 1.0.2.0.

Since I don't play multiplayer ever, I'm just going to uninstall / reinstall the game and just stick to patch 1.0.2.0.

OH WAIT, I FORGOT ONE MORE BUG:

• Reinstalling the game invalidates your save files if you've installed v1.0.3.0 on your computer prior to the uninstallation. Unless you download XLiveLess to disable Games for Windows, but then RGSC gets all messed up and unusable, which results in a "GTA IV has blah blah come to an error and needs to close" EVERY TIME YOU QUIT OUT OF THE GAME.

Man, even Mass Effect had less bugs than this. Honestly, GTA IV's amount of bugs is starting to remind me of ubisoft's Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

For a game series that has always allowed modding (look at how abundant the mods are for GTA San Andreas and Vice City) I find it strange how Rockstar has suddenly made it illegal to make mods for GTA IV, either to work online or offline. It's like all of a sudden Rockstar hates their customers.

Yes, I might be frustrated, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Quite honestly I'm surprised (and at the same time not) that people here aren't moaning about it. You all have your own tastes and your own time investments. I like investing time into my games and if there's a particular game that stands out as far as not working well with me, then I get frustrated -- and I express that frustration. Sometimes, in doing so, I hear potential solutions that other forum members have to say -- and sometimes (rarely nowadays since 2008) those solutions will work.

I'm clinging onto hope. Sue me.

hey, GTA4 works great for me after a little tweaking.
let's keep this thread clear of people who are still pissed off about it. there's several threads for that already.

great video Dub. I haven't even bothered with the video editor since I noticed I gain about 4FPS when clip capture is turned off. but it's awesome to see what people can do with it on the PC.

It did weird me out a little when the Smart Systems track kicked in, though. I was almost expecting to see hovercrafts gliding past you for a second.

How can you fall off a bike and die from the first go in GTA IV? I have to admit it makes me want to get it for the PC and try something similar. Their replay editor seems to be well-polished.

Best advice I can give is as long as you land on two wheels, you can survive pretty much any drop on the bikes.

I haven't stopped playing GTA4 since the day I bought it.
for those of us that can get past some of it's issues, it's game of the year, by far. it has yet to get old, what with all the modding capabilities.

Dub, have you ever played around with the Super Jump mod?
it basically turns GTA4 into "Mirror's Edge: New York City"
