XMP Maps?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. Crap I have a lotta maps, but I'm not finishing them up until UTXMP gets perfected (or near perfected) which I assume will happen with the advent of a few more patches. No rush, UTXMP has to be good! :)

ok... maby they are official but where the hell do i dl them incase i want to HOST one of them? plus i could fix the problem with all the peoploys being hackable on helltube and urban. anybody know because i cant find them on the ut2004 map sites?

If you were wondering, the "AMP" prefix after XMP stands for "Alpha Map Pack."

Currently I'm not working on any UTXMP maps because I'm PLAYING U2XMP not UTXMP, I map for what I play. When UTXMP goes gold, I will transfer most of my U2XMP maps over to UTXMP and finish those nearly complete WIPs. :D

why does no-one make a citymap? will be the first one!

The turrets are basically completely decorative right now, the concept is that the building for that level is a massive floating fortress-type ship. They rotate and spin and whatnot, but currently they don't do much else.

But seriously: UTXMP does have an urban map, and its pretty cool. In fact I think another one FMI is making. The problem with making an urban map for U2XMP is that you need to come up with all kinds of new content, like textures and static meshes and etc. Also, U2XMP does not have very many mappers. I would make one, but:
A.) I suck at photoshop so I can't make urban textures
B.) I still don't know how to get models from Maya PLE to Unreal II, I did it for UT2004 so thats why DustyHeights is for UTXMP

Err....you're not supposed to see that. From the area where players are in the canyon, those things are solar panels sticking into the air to explain the energy source there. You don't actually go to the top of the canyon in game. You go pretty close to the top, but never all the way.

Nope. I can't get my scripts to compile for UTXMP. o_O
Otherwise I would have this vehicle in-game.

It's a hovering assault vehicle. I also have a ton of other 2k4 onslaught vehicles, some of which I might've converted.



Oh, btw, that link you posted? That's where I started mapping. :D

There is a city map for xmp it is called XMP-Urban. It is only for UT:XMP at the moment. It is by far the best city map I seen next to /\ºStone's unreleased urban map(that is right Stone makes maps too). Be on the look out for Alpha map pack. We will make an anouncement/thread when it is complete.

A few things i want to know...

I have been working on a conversion map pack for UTXMP, by conversion i mean taking my favorite UT2K4 CTF and ONS maps and converting them to UTXMP playable versions. So far i have got Hall of Giants, Facing Worlds Classic, and Island Hop. while making the maps i encountered some stuff that i do not know how to do.

1. in onslaught vehicles are locked unless that team controls them, ie linked to a node. Is there a way to make the XMP vehicles the same way, like have them linked to an energy source so only the team thta contols the energy can use the vehicles? maby enemy vehicles could be hacked if they are locked... that would be cool.

2. how the hell do you stack the deploys so they sapwn at different times?

3. can the techs heal vehicles? if not they should be able too. maby i could add a weapon locker with a link gun?

4. the ece vehicles work in xmp levels but i noticed a few funny things about them
A. the lack of crosshairs for alt fire.
B. the car that shoots up the sattelite bomber thing (i forgot the name) only drops one bomb rather than them splitting before hitting the ground like in onslaught. can i fix this?
5. Is anyone going to get pissed because i converted their level to XMP??? I hope not.

Its been discussed over and over, nobody has made a mutator for it though.

Like Xaero said, you need to code a mutator. I suggest that you do NOT put any UT2004 vehicles in a UTXMP map, doesn't work out that great. The size of the vehicles are different since XMP players are scaled up by about 1.3 or so, so the vehicles' sizes will be off. The map sizes will be off as well, but not as bad as the vehicles I suppose.

Under properties of the deploy point, there is a "DelaySpawnPct." That is the percentage of the time that the deploy delays, so at 1.0 it changes nothing, at 0.5 the deploy is delayed to stack exactly halfway between spawns. Keep it between 0 and 1.

No not without a mutator. Dont put ECE vehicles in an XMP map.

All Epic content is fine to convert, but custom maps and CBP maps etc. you should ask the author. Personally I think that it isn't a great idea to convert maps since the scaling will be off, layout is designed for another gametype, etc.

The Deploys are meant to be hackable on Helltube. I should know it because I made it. And I guess you would have asked me before foolin around in my map, right?!
Dont get me wrong, Im not all pissy now. The Deploys are simply meant to be this way because I thought it might be a good idea to be able to get an advantage by hacking the other teams Deploys. Not that any Team would´ve ever been able to do it so far, but it´s still possible to swap bases for instance. :)
So please, with lots of sugar on top, don´t always think people did somethin wrong with their map just because you dont get it. :)
