raptor is a bitch to drive when ever you need it most it spins on the spot or heads for the nearest wall/tree/cliff/emp nade/parked jugger/parked harby/turret farm or just explodes

The vehicle ideas are golden, their performance blows.

1. Crappy physics, hell I can drive the in rings around people... it can be done. But it feels like ass.

2. No vehicle rag dolls. Ie in others (including 2k4) when it blows it goes flying and flipping as wreckage of doom. In xmp it just halts and blows.

3. Horrid collision, please this is obvious. I can blow up a raptor against a wall at slow speed, common.

Granted all these things make the game take more skill to use them, but its lame. Hell I can work aournd these and run around at top speed in them get gut blows and not worry, but it still sucks.

Functionality should not be painfull. Nor should I be able to stick a vehicle in a skybox

Worf, just because you cannot enjoy a game, doesn't mean no one in the world is supposed to. I think RPGs are complete non-sense for me, but I don't go telling people they're wrong to enjoy their games.
About the raptor turning around on a slope... to me that's obvious. Your front wheels lose traction because the car is tipping backwards. If you're perfectly straight you should keep going up. But any slight change in direction, caused by either the terrain or your steering, will cause the front end to start falling to one side, while the rear end is still going up. Eventually making it turn 180.
I'm not saying it's a problem of anybody. It's not the user's or the designer's. It's a design that works for certain people but not others (until they learn it that is). If you must think of it as a problem, I guess it can be a problem of mismatched styles. Change the style to make it more popular? It would work but it would be sad. Let's make XMP a DM game instead.

your pot is a perfect example of the problem with sticking with a dead game. You are EXTREMELY unreceptive to change (sound like any other game? *cough*CS*cough*). I think it's funny that, in the XMP beta forums, everyone is saying how great this is and hailing the Free Monkey team as awesome gods of modding glory and how they would be happy to beta test the game for them and everything...then you come here and the only people complaining about the mod are the people that are still playing XMP with ALL it's faults and with players leaving at least weekly. Worf isn't trying to force anyone to like UTXMP. I think he is just saying "SHUT UP AND GO PLAY OR SOMETHING ELSE, WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOU WHINING!"

XMP = teh ****, I'm sick of this stupid mindless banter back and forth, XMP has its points and UT2k4 has its points, look at the good, bad, and ugly, for each and keep em in your own retrospect and stop lashing out at others already. The only reason I don't like 2K4 vehicles is because the buggy thing (I don't play it enough to know the real name.. the one resembling XMP's raptor) has CRAP for a turning radius. But I assume this can all be changed. I like XMP's raptor due to the fact that you CAN spin out, it gives it a virtually zero degree turning radius sometimes and that's just what the doctor ordered for gutblowing or escaping really quick and throwing off enemies. In 2K4 that raptor vehicle only turns so much, and it's laughably easy to just stand off to the side and watch the driver run circles around you as you pummel him.

Maybe there's a trick to it, like I said I don't play it enough, but from what I've seen.. XMP's buggy owns 2K4's. 2K4's tanks though are the shiz-nite.

Because the direction that the engine went in U2 sucked, in 2k4 it improved a few minor things can change allot.

In U2XMP I get 25 fps max.... regardless of detail settings or ini tweaks that's horrid. In 2k4 in a full blow ONS map with hordes of players and things on screen I get about 60 fps with details at max.

This is on a 3.2 P4, 2 gigs of ram, abit IC7-g mobo, with a ati radeon 9700 pro.

I am not the only one with this problem. This problem is rampant, even on the atari forums the legend guys fessed up that for some damn reason the game just ran like **** on some peoples high end systems for no good reason. And for some god forsaken reasons some people have horrible pings and lag. The reason that was given was the cpu requirements of the server it's being run on.

saito i will re-post some tweaks there are a few that make a huge hit on some systems

also your chipset,video,audio drivers make a huge dir with defult drivers i was getting 25-28fps at best with updated i get 40+ (better if i was to bother installing my monotor drifers)

ifyou want to give me a holler i can see about helping you and anybody else who needs help getting a little extra speed

oh and the server connection dose slow ur main system down try a server your runnin on ur system then try online i get 60+fps oh a server i run online its 40+ without monotr drivers

xmp is picky about drivers hell i got ALOT of games like that some are picky about weird little things that wouldnt seem to matter but do :/

also something people ALWASE over look NIC drivers (network card) they need updating as well

any device you system uses that has its own driver should be updated if possable

my buddy target gained 5-9 fps(depends on map) by updating his sound/ide drivers for the nforce2 chipset the unifyed driver isnt upto date for sound and ide and it shows

oh and to the vehickles thing yeah i can drive most nights quite well even on 56k with a 300ping
they are sloppy as some put it the harby is like a top heavy remot cont car with a gyro stablizer that works about 1/2 of the time(keeps it uprite)
only one the drives like it should is the jug and it takes damnage to easy it should be more like a real tank not some kinda tinker toy tank


if the mod comes out with the good of xmp and some of the bad without to menny changes i may consider buying ut2k4 but not if its over 15$ i alreaddy have enough games i dont play i dont need more

i hope the fm team can manage to do this write and i REALLY hope they dont change things to much

oh but they can add the spider gun i miss that thing

summer,i think they are aiming for a juli/august release but even if if they say we'll release it when it's finished it's cool. Just no hl2 release dates please,oh maybe were lucky and like can pick 2k4 up at retail when it's out
