Would you buy a CD with 240+ maps on it?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Would you buy a CD with 240+ maps on it for just $5 USD?

why would I buy a CD with 240 + maps on it when I've spent the last 12 months downloading almost twice that much with my 56k modem...
So that when you for some reason don't have the maps anymore, but want them, you don't have to spend another 12 months downloading them again.

[EDIT:] Damn, my brother was on the PC, so that I was on the wrong account, and I saw it too late. Puncher didn't post this. I did.

First, I seriously doubt they're going to fill the remainder of the CD with a bunch of maps. Only the ones they've made "official" (like the desert storm pack from TbuilT - which btw you can't d/l yet).

Second, you don't have to get the install file. I have it available with each map in a seperate zip file - so you only have to install the ones you want.

Third, the CD is provided merely for convenience. If you feel you don't need it, don't buiy it. It won't hurt my feelings! ;)

Lastly, When is the last time your "burned" CD stopped working? And I don't mean from scratches. 20 years? No wait...40? Unless you buy those crappy no-label 100-pack spool of CD-Rs from BestBuy for $5, your burnt CD will last a very long time. I'm using top-notch, name-brand CDs. Maybe if I was making a profit I could afford to have them "pressed". Regardless, they make not look as pretty, but they will perform just as well I assure you.

A website will be up soon where you can check out all the details, order CDs, make suggestions, and view pictures of the finished product.

P.S. - The current 'beta' version installer weighs in at 675MB, which the total installed files make up 1.47GB (woohoo!). Also, I've already tested and confirmed that all maps included work perfectly (after much work).

P.S.S. - Domestic Shipping (including Canada and Mexico) will cost $3.95 USD Priority mail (2-3 Days). Global Shipping will stay around $9.00 USD Global Priority mail (4-7 Days).

P.M.S. - Uh...uhm.... nevermind.

#1 - Where in Germany? I might be able to ship it there for as little as $5 (although it'll take awhile to get there). Priority Airmail is $9.

#2 - I was considering putting the setup up for d/l, but the problem is just finding somewhere free to put it while trying to attain decent speeds :p At the very least, I will offer "updates" on my website (which isn't up yet, but will be soon)

Update!!

Updated prices!

Upon researching the cost of production, shipping, and materials, I've adjusted the prospective price!

The Map CDs will now be sold for $4 USD. Shipping anywhere in the US/Canada is just $3 USD, and international shipping is only $6. (Shipping includes the cost of packing materials)

So! Here's the breakdown!

A high quality CD with 240+ maps
Color label and insert with map list
Slimline CD case
Bubble-padded shipping envelope
Postage
and all my hard work getting everything together, making sure it works, getting permissions, and getting many headaches ;) .....

For just $7 in the US/Canada or $10 Internationally!!
