The copyright on games extends for about 75 years. In that time it remains illegal to download the full version of a commercial game, unless the creators release it as freeware and/or public domain. Neither of these has happened.

there is a difference between content and product. most product copyrights last 7 years unless renewed, and IP copyrights last roughly 70.

regardless, though I would be happy to pay full price for a retail copy of Jazz Jackrabbit/2, I'm unwilling to pawn one off someone because of what may have been done to it, as well as the price they may charge. What's your experience on acquiring one from a third party?

I got my copy of TSF from someone called Aiko who was quite reliable and provided tech support, but I don't know if he has any copies left. Assuming Epicclassics is still in business, I assume they would be a good source.

This is totally unrelated, but if somebody happens to own the GBA game, feel free to do a write up on that. I don't have the game, and don't know too much about it.

I didn't know that Epic made Jazz Jackraccit. I remember playing that game on my first computer: An Acer :D

jeez that game was fun, but it got boring after a little while. I miss it.

they released the second one but it looked more of the same. wow that brings back memories :D

I would love to play an UT2004 Jazz Jackrabbit mod!

I wouldn't mind working on one either actually. I did a 3D model of Jazz ages ago...

Polycount's way too high and the topology is a mess but I've been thinking of redoing it with a more sensible mesh. I'm more an animator than a modeler though. Anyway, if anyone ever gets a Jazz mod off the ground, drop me a line at [email protected] .

Dunno if I'll have time, but it would be fun to work on some of those characters.

I would like to get one started if I can. But I'm just a coder (i also have another coder) I need modellers, animators, and texture artists...although a modeller and animator would be ok too.

I can handle characters from modeling to texturing, to animation, but I'm not good with environments. Unfortunately, I really don't have any time at the moment. I'm knee-deep in personal projects and uni work. I might have some time this summer though.

If you want to find more people you could try asking at the jazz2online forums:

I got a story- Jazz had been locked away by [name] an evil scientist. The scientist had conducted experiments on Jazz, which in time made Jazz realize he was becoming more resistent to the experiments effects. The experiment used to make Jazz pass out from pain, but Jazz was becoming different, evil. Jazz broke out of his chamber and slaughtered the scientist and ran off. He later awoke, finding himself remembering nothing after slaughtering the scientist. He was pulled out of his cell (which he did not remember being put in) 2 hours later. Going through a corridor and being held from moving by 4 VERY tough looking guys, he could only look at all the papers on the walls. He found one that said, "NEW ADDITION TO THE MAYHEM! Jazz Jackrabbit!" Jazz had no idea what was happening, but he didn't like the sound of it! Near the end of the corridor he could hear people cheering past the door. The security guard opened the door and th 4 guys threw Jazz out. He got up and looked around. It was a stadium, with people all around and one guy in the middle with a microphone. THe man said, "Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the first tournament in [name] stadium! Its Jazz versus [name]. Let the games begin!" Suddenly everything got bright and there was items, buildings, and vehicles suddenly appearing in the vast Arena! Jazz without thinking grabbed a gun and slaughtered his oppenent in just minutes. Jazz was left with a feeling of excited and a lust for more. What was to come next, Jazz didnt care. As long as he could keep killing until he can find out if [name] (<--The scientist) was really killed and if not get revenge. Until then he would have to satisfy his urge to kill him with the tournaments.

I know this story probably sucks, but I'm kinda tired right now so......
You can edit it however you want (if u do like) or someone else could use it. (JUST PLEASE NOTIFY ME FIRST) lol

The only problem I see with that story is that it makes it more of a "Unreal Tournament" instead of a story/platformer type of game, similar to Mario 64.
