  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

From the privacy policy (bottom of the page)

except that there wasnt a complaint or legal action taken with this wisehacker fellow was there?

Not that i'm against what Yellow5 did, I don't care, e-mail addresses are private, and giving them out isnt invading someones privacy.

There was a complaint.
He posted (same post in two seperate forums) regarding a site where you could get numbers of skimmed credit cards. This url was actually pointing to one of those KingsOfChaos/Outwar "Join My Army" things.

Other posters complained.

The nature of the complaint and who the complainee (sp?) should be is not specified in BU's Privacy policy.

So basically you use loop holes (I mean come on now, posting someones e-mail address on another messageboard to handle a complaint?) in your own system to be a *******. ;) That is just how I see it anyways. :p

I'm not a lawyer so I can't tell you if its a loop hole or not. I'm just reading what the policy states.

I read it as if there is a complaint about a poster, we are perfectly within our aforementioned rights to not only ban them, but also sign them up to the Marky Mark appreciation society.

Now the posting of an existing forum members email address over there, or anywhere in those circumstances I would think would come under the following section (under Terms of Use, again at the bottom of your page).

The User warrants that in its use of the Web Site it shall:
- not engage in any conduct which is unlawful, or which
may harass or cause distress or inconvenience to any person.

and

Non Compliance with Terms and Conditions

Effect of Failure to comply
Failure to comply with any Terms and Conditions may find the User being subject to, but not limited to:

- a formal warning.
- temporary or permanent banning from all MotherShip servers

Any decision made by BeyondUnreal administrators with regards a User's failure to comply will be final and all cases will be considered individually upon their merits.

and if you disagree with it

Acceptance of Terms

In using any BeyondUnreal service, whether anonymously or following registration for membership, the user agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Failure to accept these Terms and Conditions means Users do not have permission to access the Contents of the Web Site and associated services and they should cease their use of these immediately.

Not quite an MS EULA yet though..........

Ok fair enough, I can agree to that. :p

If I ever get banned I look forward to my e-mail address being posted all over a anti-christ message board. :p

Well not really, I agree you can share private informations in case of legal action (although ISPs or websites with balls even refuse that :p), but it doesn't allow you to share them with random people on the internet, especially on a message board :shake:

Loophole. Everyone who reads that reads it as reveal the information to the complainer. Even if you accept the loophole how in the f-in world do you figgure that registering somone elses nick on a different forum and posting his email adress with a sexualy explicit remark equals revealing information? If anything it proofs that BUFs Privacy Police is a friggin joke -> I hereby complain about tool. He always makes fun of my title. Please reveal his information.

In BUF english: Please subscribe him to a porn forum, post his email and write that he would act for minimum wage and would do every fetish for 5% raise, since I know how fond he is of the pornography industry.

Give me a break.

Breaking the T&C means you don't agree with them, in which case the admins don't have to agree with the T&C or privacy policy or any other ruling on this forum either in your case, and can do with your information whatever they want, because you're not legally subscribed to this forum anymore (and maybe never even were, because you broke the T&C and shouldn't have been here from the start).
Meaning WiseHacker just gave that information to the admins without any restrictions.

... right?

I believe the admins were right anyways and that guy deserved it.. Moron shouldn't have come in here in the first place.

Oh, that's brilliant. I suppose when you steal a CD that means you don't agree with the laws of society as well, which means the police don't have to either and they can readily beat you to a pulp. Here it comes... r-r-r-r-r-r-

I hereby complain about G-Lite for being... uh... ugly. And his mum is of questionable character. Please register him on some sort of legal mailing list so he can understand that rules apply to everyone.

The penelties for breaking the rules are outlined in the T&C, besides that there are several federal laws about the taking of address/phone/email, you can't take that info for one reason then do something else with it
