Yes, I saw you there and you killed me a time or two... /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif cause my ping kept spiking! (always an excuse handy)

And since I'm posting, I have a few more things to discuss with you OFUY. I was thinking about your earlier comments over lunch.

You mentioned that divorce wasn't necessarily easy to get... I'll respectfully submit that a nearly 51% divorce rate in America (secular marriages) would suggest otherwise. We have a whole branch of leeches.. uh, lawyers specializing in just divorce.

Also, God's word cautions against being unequally yolked. You and your spouse will have to work together for the rest of your lives to make a marriage work, so "yolking" yourself with some one who doesn't believe the way you do or is not commited to the relationship at the same level you are can and will strain a marriage.

As I stated, my wife and I both agreed, before hand, that divorce is not an option for us - in the eyes of God - so we have to trust Him to help us in that commitment. We are both working toward the same goals not pulling each other toward different goals.

I do not mean that two people should be exactly alike because that does seem to work very well either. Each person has to realize that it is not their mates job to make them happy. Each person has to make themselves happy, while relying on their spouse for love and support, no matter what!

We have been married almost 10 now, but it will be for a lifetime... because we believe it will and have faith that it will.

Just my humble opinion...

Hey, Liquid Sin, I guess you could say we are ALL immortal. I believe (I'd have to research it) God says every soul is eternal - immortal - it is just where you will spend that eternity that can differ...

Again, not my rules or judgement, but God's and I'm not gonna argue with Him! /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

Well Ive been married for 25...but its in a rocky state now...partly due to different outlooks on life...
And believing in God and understanding the Word are not the same....anyone can choose to beleive but only a few will do the necessary study of the Word to really understand and then practice spirituality....
I have studied for years under a teacher who teaches from the Conei Greek...hundreds and hundreds of interpretational hours...and what is found there is sometimes radically different than what you get from typical churches teaching out of the King James or American Standard....way different in some cases...
There is a right man - right woman doctrine that comes into play as well...and affects both believers and non believers....
People develop mental attitude sins that many times manifest themselves in overt ones....the guys in Columbine (or any murder, rape, etc) didnt just one day decide to do that..there was much hurt and mental degradations that led up to the final act of insane murder.......these same mental attiude sins, if not taken care of, can ruin even a believer, and he/she can become apostate towards many things..including their marriage and spouse....as in the case of mine Im afraid....we'll see.
But all things shall work together for my good somehow...I just dont always see it that way.
BTW...who is this Chryst guy..why does this forum always have to have at least one asswipe in it....its always been like that

Well, I personally don't see CHRYSt (Dave) as an "asswipe" (not my call to make). I see him as another human being, made in God's image and another potential "brother" in Christ. He has been very considerate of my beliefs, as I have been of his, and he has been willing to listen and intelligently debate various aspects and topics.

I will agree that there are many "morons" or "fools" on this board, I wouldn't call CHRYSt one of them. Read some of the other posts and it becomes apparent that there are some very ignorant - not dumb, but unaware - folks here. All they need are some kind words of encouragment and some one to provide an example of something better.

We have to be that example. We have to rise above the pettyness and name calling to represent Christ.

As for their being differences in the various versions of the Bible, I can believe that - only a fool would not - as just reading King James is a toungue twisting festival while the New International Version uses more modern language. "The Message" is even a new translation completely written with modern languages, morden parables and so on.

I stand simply on God's promises, because I am fully convinced that he is able to do that which he has promised (to paraphrase the hymm). He promised in Proverbs 30:5 (NIV) "Every word of God is flawless, he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, of he will rebuke you and prove you a liar."

My God is a BIG God - creator of the universe and all that we see. There is nothing that my God cannot do. How big your God is will limit or not limit how you live. My God can and will do what he has promised... that is where my faith lies.

Of course, CHRYSt doesn't help by purposely goading you, but I can see where it could be considered fun to ruffle folks feathers. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

As always... IMHO...

Thank you Task. I personally never considered myself an asswipe.

OFUY, I did say that I would be more careful in posting things that would ummmm..."ruffle your feathers" so please take that into consideration before casting your judgement.

BTW, the sig came from a quote from the president and founder of Troma. (The movie label that sports such classics as The Toxic Avenger, Redneck Zombies, and Class of Nuke 'em High) It's claimed that it was the line that got Troma started.
