What you should do is settle down and get yourself a wife...oops, sorry LS, I mean "Life Partner."

I feel you're pain. Immortality is a rare enough gift that it makes finding a life partner (gay or not) really difficult. I'm on my 7th. I guess it would be easier if they'd stop dying every 50 years or so.

So are you guys of the "if I cut off your head with a sword you will finally die" type of immortals, or are you more the "will never die even if you cut off are heads" type?

"Life Partner" what a crock! What they mean nowadays is "Transistional Practice Partner" until you get tired of the work involved and then you can move on to the next "TPP" Life and marriage don't mix anymore... It is too easy to get into and out of a marriage so there is no incentive to make it work.

If you plan to spend a lifetime with some one then what is 3 or 4 years for getting to really know the person... I wish when I was younger some one had told that to me...

IMHO....

I agree with you totally Taskmaster! My girlfriend always is trying to get me to marry her now. I told her I want to marry her, but I want to get a good paying job first. To many people rush into getting married thinking if they are married that nothing else will matter. My Dad did that with his last marriage and it didn't even last a year! My Dad waited 8 years before asking his current girlfriend to marry him. Sounds like he has learned his lesson. /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

Lizard, this is the last time I f*cking explain this to you. The ad said "gay, bi, OR curious," I am neither gay nor bi, but I was curious so I called the number. Ahem, that should clear things up.

Taskmaster......... IMHO (repeat IMHO)
Marriage doesnt work because it is unnatural. I dont think humans were meant to have one mate, marriage is just some convention that they made up a long time ago and it doesnt work. All this IMHO of course.

L_S, that's cool.. to each his own... that's how I really feel. I have never forced anyone to think MY way. However, my opinions are, of course, different.

So in my even more humble opionion, I believe marriage is what was intended by G- uh, the Creator. When He created man he saw he was alone and made him a helper... a helper... not three or four helpers! /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

Genesis 2:24 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

Pretty straight forward... a man and his wife - not wives - become one. Kind of hard to become one when you have multiple wives, or if you have one wife at a time, but you are cosntantly thinking of/looking for the next one.

Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce" says the Lord God of Israel ...

Which kind of kills the thought of marrying multiple times is the natural way.

OK, so that is Old Testament, before Jesus created a new covenant (contract if you will). You're making me work here...

Jesus himself said in Mark 10:6-9 say basically my first point, but verse 9 says "Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Mark 10:11-12, Jesus continues "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultry against her (his wife). And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultry."

There are a few more passages concerning it, but I don't want to turn anyone off or offend anyone. So my opinion, is God's opinion.

My wife in I went into marriage, both of us in agreement, that we will not get a divorce, we will not discuss divorce, mention it, use it as a "weapon" in a fight, etc. We have God's word and promise to stand on, so that enables us to do this.

If you don't have a promise or a foundation to base your marriage on, it can easily fall apart. Hope you don't consider that preaching. I just wanted to explain my position.

Thanks for allowing me to share that....

Hmmm...marraige gets old after the 5th or 6th one passes on and you refuse to age. Stupid temporal stasis field generator. I think the only thing that will kill me is a lot of fire. I was beheaded twice in the 1500's, and it just grew back. Never been burned tho. I can't stand the smell of burning hair. They wanted to, but since I didn't weigh the same as a duck, I was pronounced "not a witch" and freed.

Good to see "somebody" here with some Divine viewpoint. But I will differ on the staement that there is no incentive to stay married cause its too easy to get a divorce..1st, Im not sure I understand that logic as stated..incentive for divorce comes from incompatability that can be caused by many different things...2nd, Its not easy at all to get a divorce...considering , in my case, I would have to pay alot of child support..approx 30% of my income off the top before taxes...thats some bread..and I would feel it no doubt.
And last, divorce can happen when one or the other decides its time to leave...so all the spiritual faith and principles are not going to help if both do not use them or depend upon them.
Hmm...TM you are risking serious arguement bringing God into anything round here..I know, I got the tshirts...hehe but good for you anyway....I'll have to start checkin in here a little more to see my "PuF" buddies.. /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif

Okay perhaps I was a bit misleading when I said "immortal", but I figured that was an easier term for you humans to comprehend. The actual life span of my species is on average a googolplex to the googolplexth power years long. We are nothing short of invincible (though my Uncle Louie died from a severe hang nail injury a few dozen millenia ago).

OFUY... ah yes I can attest to that fact. I brought up God in "The Thread" and was hammered seven ways to Sunday, if you'll pardon the pun. But now they have gotten used to me and just blow me off if they don't like it... /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif
