UT 2003 was an abomination. It did a great deal of damage to the UT franchise from which it never recovered. (All anyone wanted was a real UT99-2, instead they got UT 2003.) Why would you want it?

History, plot, nostalgia. There are plenty of reasons.
But nowadays I believe that you can only get it on Amazon and such, nobody sells it any more... Might become a rarity as time passes, too.

Indeed. Might turn into a collectors item. I can hear them now. "This is the abomination that Epic made that was promptly replaced with UT2004. People rejoiced with UT2004 greatly as they threw thousands of copies of UT2003 away into the dump."

Plenty of reasons to get UT2003

-it plays better than that UT2k4. Still, 2k3 and especially 2k4 pretty much destroyed the Tournmanet franchise for me, even if I really love UT3 and its amazing DM mode.

I actually have two copies of UT2003.....I had to buy another for some odd reason that I can't remember. Seriously though, contrary to popular believe in the OT section, getting older is not fun.;)

That's the reason I'm looking for it - it's so hard to find these days. I like it much more than UT2004 - mostly because of the reason that people like 2004 - it doesn't have Onslaught, which I totally hate. And yes, personally, i think ut99 is better than both of these (judging from ut2003 demo at least), however, I still really like it. So any help guys? I would really appreciate it as its so tempting to play such an awesome game.

You can do all the things in UT2004 that you could do in UT2003 so, besides the fact that it's a rare game and that, by itself, may be enough of a reason to buy it, why do you want it?

If you really want it then just got to EBay/Amazon and type in UT2003.

UT2003 had lots of different models, and way different movements and scale. It fit the gameplay of 2Kx much better than UT2004 did.

You're telling me that a lot of models that were in UT2003 were missing in UT004? As to movement, are you talking about boost dodging? And I don't know what you mean by the maps/characters being scaled differently.

Seriously, am I the only one here that doesn't like UT2003?

You and whippersnapper can be best friends. :p

When I said models, I meant weapons and stuff, not characters. As far as I know, all the character models in UT2003 were in UT2004.

For movement, I'm not just talking about boost dodging.

The scale was a lot different.

Just try both games, it's not that hard to tell how different they feel.

Actually, i already have UT2004, though I only passed a few levels before I found out it has Onslaught... I wonder, is it mandatory to play onslaught just to pass singleplayer? Cause its hard and not fun. And i hate vehicles, they just don't fit with the style of UT games, i think. Anyway, I found it on Ebay for only $4 so I'm buying! Thanks for you help guys.

Gotta thank again UT2k4 to introduce pointless carzzz games!

At least I did actually like UT3's Warfare due to improved carzzz and the Orb which makes the gametype less of a chore to play.

I got a cheap second hand copy not long ago and was indeed surprised by how it felt. Shame I can't seem to find any proper server, only saw people playing weird mods and servers full of bots ;(
