Angie whipped me to check the server.log today and here is the reason why the stats do not work as expected:

That error message means you should stop playing Jailbreak III and play more Jailbreak 2004.

Seriously though, I've upped the stats file size limit once again. Stats should be okay again. (Some day in the past I thought that at this point I really should implement a real database interface for the stats script instead of using a flat text file, but I... well... haven't.)
