What should the time limit on DTAS be if it's the same for all maps currently played?

Well.. if the time limit is a good one, then the attackers should occasionally run out of time even on the medium size maps. 10 min is good for tigerhunt or vietnam, but most maps should be 6,7, or 8 min.

The attackers need to feel a LITTLE pressure from the time limit to attack the objective.

I really think you should try out a shorter time limit. IF (big IF), attackers are being forced to rush and be careless just to make it there under the time, then just go back and increase it a bit. But I don't really think you need more than 10 min for any map.

Yeah, IMO a 10 minute time limit should never force you to rush the objective. It'll just prevent you from fooling around TOO much.

So clearly this isn't just a cut-and-dry, one-way-only issue. Proper time limits need to be well thought out and balanced between speed and laziness.

I don't see the problem in longer match times. Many times I check one way, and if I don't like it, then go around. Not everyone who needs 15 minutes in a round is just "fooling around". Oh, and i like walking to the objective. Not jogging, not sprinting, just walking.

I've got a stupid question, why exactly do we need time limits? Are the attackers heads going to explode if time runs out? I know DTAS is more about gameplay than anything else but, what happens in 12 minutes that's so important? If the attackers aren't going to attack WTF are they doing playing? Are the defenders so impatient that they can't wait? If the attackers are always taking 5 min to get there thus half the map isn't being used, perhaps that map isn’t the best for DTAS. If you want constant run and gun, I think you're playing the wrong game.

I'd rather have too long rounds on smaller maps than too short on bigger maps. For example, having a shorter round time on tigerhunt tends to favor defensive snipers, because you have to hurry your way to the objective, therefore you're more visible, and you can't really take the time to sneak or flank the snipers (hell, who am i kidding, i'm the one sniping all the time :D )
I remember playing 3vs3 rounds on macedonia without firing for almost 10 minutes, those were incredibly more tense and immersive than silly tdm and instant fragging. And i don't mind dying sooner than everybody else (as long as it wasn't a stupid death), as i can always enjoy watching others play, or turn the tv on.

Ditto. If people want to rush around like crazy, they should go back to playing UT. This sim was meant to be more realistic; i.e. you rush, you die.
And like Ant, I don't mind sitting in the shadows for 10 minutes or more waiting for some idiot to try and rush the target. ;)

Easy answer, but the questions shows that you never have played a serious TDM war where both teams really tried to win.
If there is no timelimit DTAS is falling back to TDM. Attackers have no reason to attack anymore.

TDM

Are the defenders so impatient that they can't wait?
Have you ever waited for 20 minutes? Well, I have .. in a TDM war.
I mean, ... on sicily.

If the attackers are always taking 5 min to get there thus half the map isn't being used, perhaps that map isn’t the best for DTAS.
I guess you know that DTAS is based on Random Team Spawn? ;)

If you want constant run and gun, I think you're playing the wrong game.
Well, atleast one statement where i agree ;)

Actually EAS is more run and gun than TDM because many players are more careless and seems to be focused on using up their lives (guess that happens if you get more than one ;) ).

Back on topic:
I wouldn't mind to play without a time limit. If I am supposed to attack I would do so but in a *very* slow way.
My fastest movement type would be slow crouch and before moving through a door I would sit down for a minute and contemplate about that decision ;)
