Im either going to buy 4.1 or 5.1 speakers soon (basically just to play UT with) and I was wondering which to get and does it make that much of a difference between having a center speaker or not....

I don't think your UT will sound better because the center speaker u are talking about is used in dolby Po Logic Movies to broadcast speech and i dont think UT supports this....

Yeah he's right so use the money you'll save and buy a nice and powerful 4.1 system! Nothing like hearing that base rumble or scaring the neighbors with a rocket explosion. Midiland are my personal favorite. Just don't buy them from their website because you can get thier stuff much cheaper elseware IE Outpost

Klipsch

Klipsch ProMedia v.2 400watt THX speakers. I have a set and I've never heard anything come close to the quality of these for computer speakers. They handle surround sound beautifully and the sub is deceptively powerful given it's size.

Yup, If you haven't played UT using high-quality headphones you are missing out:). I also have a set of midiland speakers (don't remember which ones) when I want to freak out the neighbors:cool:.

For some reason, I just don't like headphones... maybe they would be ok after you get used to them.. It just feels wierd having them on my head when i play UT.

I use the FPS 2000. Nowhere near as powerful as the ProMedia but more than enough power for me. I think you can get the FPS 2000 for about $130... maybe less.
