Even with Donals OGL drivers it still renders much to dark to warrant using it, and the fact that the damn gamma adjustment and brightness dont work for me after booting INF up with Donals drivers..... D3D on a Radeon9800 Pro

THE FIX FOR ALL BRIGHTNESS-RELATED OPENGL PROBLEMS

Open console, type in 'preferences', go to 'renderer', opengl, and toggle "OneXBlending". I dont know what it does, but it seems to work.

Of course, some maps were made by mappers using OpenGL, and some were made by those using DirectX, so this value constantly needs to be changed per map.

I don't wanna turn this thread into opengl discussion, but since it has been brought up...
There seems not to be one single solution for the brightness bug with chris ogl. It can be fixed either with a driver update (which never worked for me, or worked at the expense of performance), some video utilities, or various secret computer techniques  ...
As far a i'm concerned, the only method i found (maybe that can help you bush) is this :
My desktop resolution is 1024* whereas my Inf resolution is 1280*. So everytime i wanna start Inf, i have to turn my desktop resolution to 1280, launch the game, and then adjust the brightness (which is always too dark by default) within the video settings. Without changing the desktop resolution first it doesn't work. Yep, it's a pain, but playing Inf has a price...
Sorry for hijacking.

Never have had a problem with the new OpenGL yet. I've got a nVidia geforce 4 420 for laptops (eh, I know :p) and I didn't even have to fiddle with the settings.

I had the brightness problem too on my ati 9800pro. Rollback to Cat 3.9 solved it. Before that i had a similar 'wax on, wax off' technique as Ant to get it right.

I don't use a renderer, or at not one that's listed. You see there’s a little imp inside my computer furiously drawing pictures for me. So when you think about it the 5-10fps I get are actually quite reasonable. It also explains why it tends to overheat and stop drawing after a couple of minutes. ;)

But seriously I use Open GL and the omega drivers with no brightness problem.

By the way Chris Donhal OpenGL has just been updated 5 days ago.
So go get the 2.8 version to test it if you have some problems with your current one
Or just install it to see some bugs fixes and some new approaches to 16bits colors textures support.

hmmmm for some reason I don;t have this setting? I'll have to see what is oing on. using Chris's opengl with good success. It really brighten things up though but alittle gamma adjustment fixes that.

Still have to flush due to some problems ith some tree textures at times but over all works nice.

Does he have a pixel shader?

If you don't see the setting in the console preference, you can always set it in your Infiltration.ini
look for the category [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
and find the line OneXBlending=False and replace the False by True if you want to activate it
If this line is not there (especially after you have check the console preferences), it is possible that you are not using OpenGL .

In the console preference or if you don't see it in your Infiltration.ini , check the OpenGL category and put MaskedTextureHack=True if it was to False.
This way, you should not need anymore to flush the black rails or black instead of transparent foliage.
