Don't know the answer to your original question, sorry.

But if you ask me, ditching the weapon display thing is alot better than ditching the weapon itself. Not seeing my weapon takes away from the 'feel' of the game IMO.

I got rid of that annoying chat box and weapon display thing though the day I installed UT. They are not needed. As well as shrinking the HUD and status size WAY down.

And of course you can still bind keys to weapons.

Try it out. You can see alot more of the game that way. And your weapon.

Check your FOV (field of view) setting, if this is high then weapons take up a lot more screen space.... to set it back to default open the console (press ~) and type "FOV 90".

The 'deemer takes up a helluva lot of screen space when you've got it active anyway ... only way round that is to have weapons hidden....

Hey anyone, is there a console command for Weapons Hidden / Shown? Maybe if we combined it into the select weapon keys you could have shown for certain weapons and not shown for others..... (of course even then it would only work if you selected the weapon via your key rather than it being selected when you pick it up or run out of ammo on another).

Im talking about that it goes over my UD, like my ammo count and all that stuff. It also happens in other mods that have big weapons.... like Unreal Fortress, when I use the chaingun for the heavygunner, that gun goes over my HUD. And Flagg, yeah, I turn off weapon display, but its the ammo count that I wanna see. It sux that when ur a heavy guner in UnF, and u don't know ur ammo count cuz a freakin graphical glitch makes the gun appear in front o my damn HUD!!!

Hidden weapons really improves your aim as the weapon angle is a little deceiving. It does take some getting used to. Heck, you'll even get a tiny bump in frames per second!

I dont think it has anything to do with my monitor. Its a graphical glitch. Maybe its a glitch with UT, or maybe its my vid card... I dunno! Does anyone else have this prollem? And guys, I put the weapon as hidden, and it felt wierd, I prolly just need to get used to it.

and BTW, u all 0wn me :) (not literally)

i have that problem too. it is just the coding of the display of the weapon, the hud is drawn before the weapon, so the weapon comes on top of it.

Guess who else is back :) Anyway, lookin at the pic, I am stumped :\ Maybe, just MAYBE it has something to do with the FOV. I have mine set at 100. Well, I set it back to 90 when I noticed a decrease in framerate.

Hmmmm

That's pretty ugly :(

The only other thing I can think that might be worth trying is changing your graphics rendering mode ... ie. if you're using OpenGL try Direct3D or vice versa....

If you really can't get round it playing weapon-hidden really is worth a try; takes a little getting used to but the HUD still shows you your ammo and selected weapon.....
