My computer temperatures the other day where quite high whilst having the editor open and I wish to find ways of making it cooler.

My Case (Antec 900) has two free Fan Spots and I wish to fit two 120mm fan into them.

are these fans any good?

and are there any other ways to make your computer cooler?

I have no idea about those particular fans, but most 120mm will not have problems; it's usually the 80mm where they might squeal or be too loud or whatever. Where are the two spots for fans in your case? You need at least one blowing air in usually from the front bottom area and one blowing air out from the back top area.

umm. I have room for one fan in the middle compartment (near GPU)
and another space on the side of the case on the side of the GPU.

all you need to make your computer cooler is some blue and green LED lights, racing stripes, and chrome accents. people will take one look at your rig and be like
"DAMN!"
"that's a cool computer."

on a serious note: when I was still using my previous gaming machine, I sometimes had heating problems due to poor case design. instead of buying an actual case fan (because I knew I would be working on a new rig soon), I took off the panel on one side and propped a regular house fan up next to it that was blowing right on the GPU.
it kept the thing running 15-20 degrees cooler under load!

whatever works...

Well, if those are the only spots available and you have no fans now, then fill 'em up as long as the side fan is blowing in and the middle fan is on the back and blowing out.:) If not, then jump back in and let us know. Don't worry about the PSU fans......that's just a bonus or in a very rare case a hinderance...........in other words, don't count them as fans.

Also, here's a fan I just bought to blow air out (basically suck air out of the top.....I know it's overkill but whatever) of my receiver and it's virtually silent, so I know these would be good for your case. I tried to find a 120mm fan with the most air flow and the least noise. So see if you can find the specs on those Antec fans and compare.

You should take a look at the Domino A.L.C, kid. Simple and cools great.
Not a bad price either.

You're kidding, right? It cools only slightly better than a TRUE, is noisier & costs 50% more, and at low speed performs worse than sinks that cost 2/3's less. :con:

...but the Coolermaster 120mm fan is rated at 44.03 CFM with only 19.8 dBA, which is better than the best 120mm in that review article.:)

Yeah, but the three Bit articles shows that what the manufacturers specs claim aren't always what they produce. Not saying the Coolermaster is a bad fan, btw, just to take listed specs with a pinch of salt. :)

<edit> Turd, I'd suggest getting a couple of big cfm fans & a fan controller, it gives you the option of extra oomph in the hotter months (especially if the noise doesn't bother you) or slow & quiet(er) when you don't need a tornado blasting through your case.

It's a pretty horrible solution in terms of noise, dust and power consumption, though.
actually, when I say "house fan" it was just one of those little clip-on fans that's about 6 inches wide. so it wasn't noisy at all and didn't blow around clumps of dust.

but yes, that was an impromptu and temporary solution that I wouldn't recommend for very long.
but it worked! :p

Just open up the side panel. It's what I did (Have Antec 900 too) and it works well :D

The two HDD fans at the front should be intake, and there's one at the rear for exhaust. There's also the big one at the top as exhaust, and an additional spot on the left side (facing the front) of the case. The side should be exhaust as well, unless having that side fan and the CPU fan blow wind towards each other is better... Keep in mind the PSU is at the bottom, blowing upwards, and the GPU upside down blowing downwards, so already opposing airflows there.
