UT:XMP and SS:2845 comments

I waited a very long time to get my broadband... so I feel your pain.
It just became available here where I live at the beginning of summer.
AND I LOVE IT!!

The really nice part is that I have two healthy matching 2.4Ghz boxes side by side and online for only $25 per month.
I am actually SAVING money compaired to what dialup was costing me.
Dialup was biting me for the cost of 2 extra dedicated phonelines and 2 dialup accounts.
It was well over $100 per month and my connection was only 31k because my home is so far back from the street out in the country.

Not that I've found. They said they wanted to keep it behind closed doors until release. Probably they don't want to piss off FMI.

Having said that, we all consider FMI's effort to be the "official" child of XMP. And love 'em for it! I guess that makes it a "love child" which feels kinda dirty. Forget I said that.

im gonna avoid yet another vehicle debate... and just say i loved the XMP vehicles and hope the utxmp vehicles are even better.

as for 2845, i know a lot of the guys making that mod for Tribes: Vengeance (it is after all the tribes/starsiege universe).

likewise, i can tell you that a LOT of tribes fans are also excited for UTXMP and will play both.

T:Vengeance just came out this week, and i'd strongly advise folks check it out. it also has very very good singleplayer thanks to the skills of Irrational Games.

TV and XMP will have all my FPS and mapping attention for a while.

I was rather surprised to see you frequenting this site Peter, and happy to see such interest in where something you were involved in is going.
It shows that the effort was something more than a means to a paycheck.
I admire that as well as strongly share the viewpoint.
If it means anything, I feel that XMP is the best teamplay FPS concept to be had to date.
