ok ... let's have a look ...
...
I don't like most of those ...
1st problem: map is eye candy but it is unplayable
2nd problem: most of those maps require really powerful PC. Most of my LAN buddies have low-end computers ... This means I won't be able 2 test those maps with human opponents. :(

dm-rumblepit ...well ... total crap. Those lens flares are damn annoyng. They are coming out of nowhere & it's hard 2 see through the doorways ... & all those catwalks ... I just hate catwalk-based architecture. Weapon placement sucks. It's really hard 2 find a gun when there are 'bout 6 players running around. The map has no ideal player count. It feels either crowded or empty.
dm-faith ... this map is kinda funny. It looks ok too ... But gameplay sucks. It is absolutely unplayable.
dm-organic ... I don't get why this map is considered cool. There's nothing special about it. Yeh, the lift is cool but everything else is average. colored lava ... colored portals ... gameplay is average.
dm-wickedmasion ... it looks cool, atmosphere and stuff ... but it's almost unplayable. Performance is almost ok but when I enter the mansion fps are about 20 (powerful PC) ... underground & outside sections are ok ...
dm-amon Nice but nothing special. Traditional "1-on-1 pack" gameplay but fps are rather low.
dm-deck40 ... cool remake. It is really good looking but it fails as 1-on-1 map. It's almost impossible 2 take Shield belt and stay alive ... this map is shock dominated. & it's really easy 2 cause selfdamage with flack due 2 the complex architecture.
dm-sion ok map but fps are below average.
dm-redheat2 ... once again ... nice map but fps are low ... & this voice on respawn is pretty annoying.
dm-iceotoxin nice map ment 4 3 players only. It becomes crowded with 4.
ctf-denovocool little map. not sure 'bout fps ...
ctf-phobos][ looks ok but it's really hard 2 reach the flag ... sniper & shock are extremely useful.

I havn't tryed the other maps yet.
more critics coming ... not very soon.

& here are some maps I like. Feel free 2 criticise them :D

some eye candies:
DM-Summit_V2_Ecliptic
I've seen DM-Summit_V2 but I was not able 2 find it on Nalicity.
DM-Dominis
DM-Frozen (sorry I have no time 2 search 4 it)
& some tourney maps: DM-Alpu-tourney In duels action concentrated around Shield belt. Taking Shield belt is vital but rather dangerous.
DM-1-on-1-Revenge I use this 1 mostly 4 fun & training (shock arena & stuff). Nice Z-axis action. DM-Nitro Pure classics. Perfect 4 duels, TDM & DM (up 2 4 players).

oh ... have no time 2 find maps missing on Nalicity :( May be I'll add them later

@NeoNite suggestions

-Dm-Titania][ :
icon14.gif
(even if there was no titan , a great map in my opinion)
-Dm-trainyard : for some reasons , i like this map more if played with some "realistic" weapons mutator :
icon14.gif

-DM-Urban_Terror :
icon14.gif

I don't know the others maps, so can't say anything.

@Glider of chaos suggestions

-DM-Summit_V2_Ecliptic : not for me, even if i like this kind of maps in Quake3, this one does not really play well in UT, DM-SummitV2 (iyou can find this one HERE) was in the same way , good looking in the eye candy department, but not my kind of maps in UT.
-DOM-Dominis : i don't like it , but maybe it is because i play those custom maps mostly with bots and that they are not interesting on this map.
I don't know if DOM-Dominis would be good for online.

I have not played any of the other maps , so i can't judge.

Funny, I've never experienced slowdowns in dm-wickedmansion.
Run the game in d3d in 800x600x32, on a geforce2 mx.
(yeah yeah I need to upgrade, but I can't exlusively save money for a pc you know...)

Seriously, never any slowdowns.
Even with 15 bots running around.
Even with tons of monsters roaming the level (the unreal arcade mod).

AS-Bridge : Certainly a very good map online, but only online
icon14.gif

Bots are so bad on this map that it is not fun offline.
(unfortunately it is the case in the majority of custom UT Assault maps, i only had fun in bot games with the default UT assault maps)

About Wicked Mansion, i have a GF2 too , not an high tech computer and have no slowdowns on this map (playing in OpenGL with the enhanced driver found there) .

... Glider Of Chaos:  to most you've said (apart from the suggestions), but i disagree about Deck_40. It's not even a 1on1 [exclusive] map...

Urban_Terror would be cool, but it feels "stuck" in gameplay at times. I still consider DavidM's DM-Urban the working urban DM map by excelency...

Vocant][ is an old resident here, but i have some gameplay concerns, namely the dead end at the start (entrance) of the map... still, an ok map...

Dm-Brunel

Funny, never realised the headshotwintermappack could be found on nalicity.
Give them a spin.

Dm-Thefreezepack
Has some nice maps included.
My favourite is Dm-indicator-A.

Dm-(the tomb of)tihocan is a nice tourney map. Bots won't dissapoint you either.

Some pics:

2)DM-Antargos (correct me If I'm wrong)

3)DM-Adrenochrome (correct me if I'm wrong)

Imo these maps both score well in the looks/gameplay department.

Speaking of Assault...
I'll link these later if someone really wants me to... not much time right now. Shouldn't everyone have virtually every good assault map by now anyways? It's not like there's a whole lot of them :p

AS-Asthenosphere. Brilliant looks, gameplay is perfect. I always love to run back through this.

AS-ColdSteel and ColSteel2. The Assault Bonus Pack rocks. These maps are probably some of the best-looking, bes-playing assault maps out there. If you don't have these, you either A) don't play assault much at all B) live under a rock or C) are a tardcheese. Modem is no excuse; I downloaded the ABP when I was still on 56k. Get these.

AS-RocketCommand. I think this is in the bonus pack. Holy ****, most inventive AS map ever. Very well-done. I just can't get over how much this rocks. Fighters come in and bomb the hell out of a brick wall to make entrance easier, you have to kill AA turrets so your 'reinforcements' can land (helicopter where new spawns are), end up going into the rocket and launching it. ****ing awesome. And it sure isn't easy either.

AS-Orbital. Holy crap, this one is great. Fight your way through a bigass space station, which EXPLODES when you finish (after you leave of course). I mean it REALLY explodes! Wow.

AS-Dunamis. Modified from the DM and DOM version, this map is quite a piece of work. The very end rocks. Looks and gameplay soar.

AS-Resurrection. OH MAN! How could I have forgotton this one?! One of the best themed maps out there. Start by emerging from graves and storming a castle to wake up the four idols. THAT'S RIGHT! You start off as the bad guys! Kickass.

AS-Lavafort][. Pretty cool theme, not easy. Bots don't act like tards the way they do in Bridge sometimes. Nice looks, good gameplay. This is one of the good ones too.

As-Astenosphere has perfect gameplay?
Yeah right!

Man, it's so easy to defend when you're playing against bots. Too easy really.
There are points in these maps where all you have to do as a defender is spam.

And sometimes bots forget their objectives when they're in the vents?
You know what I mean. They have to jump out, but sometimes they're stuck at the searchlight.

Sometimes bots just forget what to do and return to the start point.

This map is very spammy and unfair on the team of attackers.

Perfect? Heck no. Good map? Sure, I guess. Well, I wouldn't ever call it a bad map.
I'd call as-castle a bad map.
Download it and see for yourself why...

Personnally i always been disapointed by the custom AS maps.

Several of them look great, but as i play them offline, the bot support as never been up to my expectations.

On some maps the bot support can lead them to accomplish the objectives, yes , but even for those maps i never felt the need to play them again and again, so i deleted them after some time.

Nothing like the fun of the stock map AS-Overlord, as an example. I can't count how many time i played it with the bots without being bored.

But for the online play only, several of the custom AS maps should be very good, as the human player will usually not be stuck in a random place or in always the same defend point.

Some good suggestions in here, maps I'd forgotten and some I've never even seen (2019). I will indeed look for some of these later.

R.I.P. Headshot, one of the first sites I ever dl'ed maps from, and home of that map that NeoNite just won't stop going on about...after 3+ years! ;)

I know I've mentioned these in past threads, but feel these are still worth some mention:

DM - Essence: Good dueling map, small playerload. One of my all-time favs.

CTF - Rime Isle: Big CTF map, medieval theme, LOTS of room to roam around.

CTF - Mattelfighterjets][: ridiculous 'big' themed map using custom weapons and of course, the jets. Lots of neat things to find, and fun to play if you're into that sort of thing. I just happen to like weird maps like this.

I've found a nice Urban map, it's called Dm-Sleepytown.
It uses a custom textures set, these are really convincing.
The level is not that big, recommended player load is 2-6.

Bots work absolutely fine :) They're terrific!
Weapons you'll find are minigun, rocketlauncher, sniper rifle and flak cannon.
Not a lot, but I'm not complaining.

Get the file here:

http://realmaps.beyondunreal.com/review.php?revid=69

Comment ,taken from the site, about the bots, and I guess it's true:

The bots in Inf...well...they kinda suck on this map. Not a whole lot of movement, but they kill you when they see you. But in regular UT, they are fantastic.

This map is worth getting.

I agree with the review, i really liked this map in UT , there was constant action without a pause with bots in it.
In Infiltration 2.8x-2.9, the bots are not very entertaining in that map.

But try Infiltration 2.75 with that map : the INF2.75 bots are the UT bots, so you will have fun with it on that map .

Or you can try the CovertForce (C4) mutator (with WoRM) , again it is the UT bots , so plain fun :)
