If game companies want to have cd drive protection they should make it a requirement to have the cd in the drive when you install a patch, as most people only install a patch once it's less inconvenient.

I'm glad theres a no-cd patch though.

Ummm.. the patch has been in beta for quite some time now. More than enough time for the anti-cheat devices to be brought up to speed. It'd up to the mutator creators to ensure that THEY are compatible with official releases.

I've had the beta and I know that TCC patched servers won't work for me. I just go onto another one. They'll get caught up soon, I'm sure.

The engine cache memory leak fix and the no-CD were reason enough for me to download this patch the second it hit the mirrors. GG Epic.

As for AntiTCC, I'm sure Wormbo will rejig it soon to work with 3204. :)

"Epic" refers to a group of people. "They have released the patch." -- Epic = They.

It's called a collective noun. This is a textbook quote:

"Squad is a collective noun referring to a group of people acting as a unit, so the pronoun is singular."

In this case:

"Epic is a collective noun referring to a group of people acting as a company, so the pronoun is singular."

Take the test in this link to see if you should review the 9th grade (or if you don't believe me). :D It takes a negligible amount of time.

Hehe... I do that all the time. I suppose it depends on whether or not you think the individual employees of Epic are acting as a group or independantly.

Of course this is all in good fun. Don't be offended. :)

Ah, but will the new AntiTCC still break Linux?

I'm using the linux client straight out of the box. Everything works like a charm... except that everytime I try and connect to one of these "AntiTCC" servers, I get kicked because it thinks I'm cheating. I'm not! I swear! Can't they test the file checksums against the Linux and Mac clients, too?

I'm hoping if AntiTCC gets an overhaul, they won't overlook us again. I support the AntiTCC folks and what they're trying to do, I just wish they'd support those of us on "alternative operating systems".

"Epic is a collective noun referring to a group of people acting as a company, so the pronoun is singular."

It may also be of relevance that Epic, as a company, is a legal entity/personality and in that regard is singular rather than plural. With regard to EPIC I would just like to add at this point:

Thanks Epic.

Thanks for removing the CD component from game startup. I always keep forgetting to remove the CD from the drive with the result that it has hardly left the drive since I bought the game. At least now I no longer have to be paranoid about accidently damaging the CD and totally ruining my UT2K4 gameplay experience.

As for other bugs and subsequent fixes; this is a start and I'm sure more potential coder frustrating bugs will emerge in time.

But for the moment thanks Epic.

Now as for ATARI and the lack of purchase price rebates offered in countries outside of North America and Europe.............
