to answer your question JaFO, my system chokes on ONS-Urban on normal settings. It usually is fine untill the battles start up, then that's when it gets jumpy. and your right I do always have to keep my settings on normal. I'm going to try and shoot for an OMG PC for UT2007.

All this talk about upgrading now is such a waste. To play the game when it comes out at its full glory SMOOTHLY, you will have to spend over a grand on just the cpu and vid card. I truly believe this. To purchase anything now would will make it chug at high settings.

i will simply wait for a demo, see how it runs on my rig and if i have to face it can't handle the game at a nice res and with acceptable details i'll decide whether to buy new hardware or not...
and then like someone has already stated: it was the exact same thing when ut2k3 was announced. people were going crazy because they needed new hardware to run the game smoothly and stuff.
how long will it take till the hardware that can run unreal engine 3 games at nice details smoothly will become cheaper and cheaper?!

A) It IS a bad system.... sorry but thats considered old now.
B) A game's system requirements increases as new material is released for it (newer maps and models posess a higher polygon count and texture resolution than the release-date maps and models). ONS-Urban came with the ECE bonus pack which was released a year after UT2004's release, so all of the content from the ECE bonus pack should require higher system specs to run smoothly than say........ ONS-Torlan which was the demo map for UT2004.
C) Windows XP is SEXY, and if sex is evil than I am too.

Hmmm...you may have other issues going on. I have a 2.53 Ghz and 512 DDR pc2700. ATI 9600xt card. XP Pro w/sp2.

I have the charater detail, world detail and vehicle?detail set to highest and everything else set at high. I just played Urban last night on a loaded 32 person server and had no issues whatsoever...not even lag. Runs about 40 to 45 fps. As long as it is over the human eye threshold (25 to 35 fps) I'm happy.

BTW...comparing computer programmers to computer builders is about the same as comparing plumbers to electricians. They work on the same thing but have no clue as to what the other is doing.
