As some of you might know, I have an idea of converting Unreal 2 weapons to Unreal Tournament. I would work on it myself, but there is a few things stopping me:
    1. I don't have 3D model editing software, except UnrealEds.
    2. I have no idea how to script in UnrealScript, but I do understand most of the code that is written.
So I need some help with that. I can do almost anything else, if that doesn't conflict with those two points. If someone is willing to help and do the model work or code work (though I don't think there is much of this, the code should be almost re-useable), this project would be completed in no time, and when the Extension Pack is released, we could enhance the weapons.
Here's what sources of code and models I have or know that there are:
    1. Unreal 2, but they don't include exportable animations.
    2. XMP, but there are a few missing weapons.
    3. UTXMP, the same as XMP but in UT2004 and free, so it would grant easier access for those who have UT2004.
    4. Unreal 2 weapons for UT2004 pack, but I think that they're the same as in UTXMP.

For those who have no idea what kind of weapons are Unreal 2 weapons, here are the links to their descriptions (almost all are expanded by me):

    http://liandri.beyondunreal.com/Combat_Assault_Rifle#Unreal_2

    http://liandri.beyondunreal.com/Sniper_Rifle#Unreal_2
    http://liandri.beyondunreal.com/Energy_Rifle
    http://liandri.beyondunreal.com/Shotgun
Those which don't have their own pages:
    Vulcan Flamethrower
    Magnum pistol
Spider Spore Cannon (not in XMP!)
Drakk Laser Rifle (not in XMP!)
    The Takkra (not in XMP!)
    Singularity Cannon (not in XMP!)

I'm going to add some info about these as well (I'm good at descriptions and other content management :) ). I have also made a table showing the equivalents of certain weapons in Unreal Tournament to those in Unreal 2.

If anyone wish to help or at least give any advice, I would be very grateful. I was thinking about porting the weapons since I started playing Unreal 2, and anything I tried didn't work out :( Hopefully this time someone will help!

Might give more info tomorrow, but feel free to comment...

Really? That makes it easier. Any way to grab them?
And XTC, are they easy to use and learn to animate? Have no limitations? Can convert animations to UnrealEd 2.0 readable state? :)

And here's a guide to convert skeletals to animating static meshes: http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/Playing_Mesh_Animations

And here's a perfect guide, even for UT and on weapons, but using 3DMax: http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/3D_Studio_Max_Weapon_Modeling_And_Import , http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/3ds2unr

EDIT: XTC, there's a VIRUS IN THAT ATTACHMENT! Detected it, and downloaded the real 3ds2unr file.
Oh, so it's a tool just for the purpose of converting things :) OK, I'll try it.

That page is waaay to crowded with mods to see, but I've found the UT Package tool by myself. It won't extract animations though :(

emerald iirc for animating models you need the character FX tool.
but maybe its better to post about this whole topic on the modelling sub-forum also.

Or maybe just use Maya? Those UEd Wiki pages clearly list how to do things with it.
And where's the 3s coop server?

Never use UTPT or WotGrail to export meshes to .3d files, it always messes them up on the pivot. That's one reason noone has been able to export any meshes from UT or UT2k4 using those programs. They are a trip...

Only way I can think of, is purchasing the MilkShape or make all the animations for your guns between its 30 days trial  but I doubt it would let you save or export.

i know that some mods are _virusses_

    but theire harmless,
they are seen as a virus cause some mods for unreal change the interface of the game, like the hud and stuff ( this may not do that but just mentioning it ;) ) they need to do a sort of SQL injection in UT
might be bull**** but good story :p

    iam off to the bar
beer beer beer, long weekend :D

So, was this project totally abandoned or is it still being attempted?
