I'm in New York for the Puerto Rican day parade and at night I'm in new orleans drinking hand grenades.

We have bourbon street, mount rushmore, the grand canyon, the golden gate bridge, the muffletta (greatest sandwich in the world), Pecan Pralines, Cajun food, mountain dew, Jolt cola, Fuze, snapple, Pittsburgh, with more bridges in that small city than any other city in the world, I could go on.

Those castles look more like houses or mansions.
When i think of castles i think of giant stone towers and big giant doors. Cant leave out the big pot of scoulding hot oil on the balcony above the door for unwelcome guests.
In other words it should be a big impenetrable fortress.

Houston, Texas.

Reasons to visit Texas :

If you like anime ADV is in town.
DELF001_C.jpg

We are very diverse.
Most people tend to think of Texas as 90% white, 10% black and hispanic.
In houston its more like 49% white, 51% everything under the sun. Especially at one of the many universities in the area.

Doesn't feel like a big city.
Houston feels like a giant suburb, nearly eveyone lives in a house, most stores located in small comercial areas.

We have more than one Downtown :D
There is the Main downtown in central houston, then there is the Sumit area down the free way from downtown, after that is the Gallaria area, and finally the Medical Center. You could also count the Woodlands, but thats on the edge of houston.

Medical Center.
If you work in the medical industry, we have a job for you.
If you need specialized medical help, we have the doctors and cutting edge procedures. When King, Presidents, and Movie Stars want the best (especially with heart problems) they come the the Medical Center, and they come to Methodist hospital.

That's the point. For us dutchies they're the same old canals (I still love em though) but there isn't a place in the world that looks like it, and the tourists love it... :)

but ok some other stuff found here:

The FlevoPolder(click pics for info!)

(the coffeeshop text on the image is a coincidence, I googled for flevoland I swear!)

And every workday half the province is trying to cross over 2 bridges.
Futher Almere is the most retarded city in the land. it has a image problem the city centre didnt grow with the city size it self. (Almere was supposed to become like Dronten and Zeewolde small suburban ****holes Almere has become the bigger and better city but it should have been Lelystad) So it lacks big shoppings mall and clubbing isnt as fun in Amsterdam.

Well for quite some time the city is trying to get better in terms off shoppings malls and entertainment. So the city centre has become a building pit.
Also the city spend millions in retarded projects like bringing some obscure soccerclub FC omniworld and to enter it to the professional soccer compettion. After years of spending millions in this subsidized pit they finally entered it. its a miracle because the cant play soccer at all.
A mobile performing stage. 450.000 euro On a yearly basis its used for 20 days in total. All other days it just stands there in the way. its also mobile (if you look closely you see the rail tracks on the street) The rail tracks are filled up with rubber now but it used to be open so ppl tripped over it.
podiumalmere001.jpg

But this city also lacks real history so why dont we steal a historical object like a castle. Yes this is a castle well atleast its going to be a castle. The construction has been put on hold because no money. Really the only reason they wanted to castle was to bring in some culture. well castle fine but build your own one and not some cheap replica.
castlealmere.jpg

but there are more bull**** projects like a garbage sucktion system. We spend millions on it because a another capital city has one ( I think copenhavn).

This city has also obsession with ufo like buildings. infact many new buildings in the city centre are quite "unique".

But there are some good points. like good bus public transport. This is the only city in Netherlands with seperate buslanes. (The busses have their own road system completely seperated from the public roads)

Most neighbourhoods have their own themes. We have Seizoenen buurt(season) where the streets have names to the season, months, days. Striphelden buurt (comic book names) where the streets have names from cartoon and comic book characters. If im correct there is even a kabouter plop street. So finding a place is less difficult. except in Almere haven that part of the city was built in the seventies with idea off small communities. Resulting in wierd streets and disorienting infastructure.

So this city has its CONS and some pro's but damn this city is trying too hard to work on its image. Man spend money on more important things than a mobile stage and some morons who CANT play soccer.

oh you cant forget GunsPoint! oh excuse me, GreensPoint.

growing up in the NWsuburbs, everything inside the loop is considerd downtown in most cases, the houston sprawl is so massive. yay us:D
nasa is alot of fun too, if youv never been there.
there are also some great parks in and arround the city where you can go see green growing things- buffalo bayou park, memorial park, burrows park, theres tons. come and visit, ill put you up and give you a place to sleep!

Ah ... it's good to see that Eindhoven isn't the only city that's wasting money on stupidity.

For example that bit of 'art' (the gigantic bowling ball and stuff) cost a few million AFAIK.
And why ? Because politicians thought they needed something 'unique'. I guess they forgot the UFO (used to be a museum) and the various other buildings/landmarks left by the city's long history as the heart of Philips in the city-centre :

Hello, maybe you didn't catch the reason for this thread. . .
It's to brag not to bash!

So i will continue with this.
I bet your town doesn't have one of these!

This picture was taken on Montrose blv , near Westhimer. It is a house witch has been transformed by local artists into . . . . I don't know what to call it.
But it is definitely cool looking. You can actually crawl all the way to the other side of the house through the worm hole. Its really amazing to see in person.
When it was first created it gathered so many people it made it on the news. People thought mother nature had done it.
