Newbies and ghostcam opposers:
i cant stand these one-timer to 15post newbies coming in here and saying our efforts to make infiltration the best mod ever are pointless. You guys should ask whats the big deal first before telling us were a bunch of whinners.
Heres the situation kiddies:
Some people ghost while talking to living players on voice communication programs (ie: roger wilco) and report enemy positions to their teammates which they are hooked up to (on roger wilco). This is very rare in public servers because most ofter players join sparaticlly, and dont bother to get their RW (roger wilco) buddies to help them. They are just there to play the game.
In clan games it is a differant story. Winning is most often everything, and most players will do everything and anything to ensure victory (im not suggesting cheating, so dont ask). Ghost recon makes surprise tactics worthless when other team mates are telling their living teammates where and what the enemy is doing.
Now the simple solution would be to throw out ghosting alltogether, but thats just not fair. To many newbies, and even well developed players, it is important to be able to have a chance to see how team dynamics work online, and pick up a few skills in the proccess. Having the ability explore maps, and how they are best used without the pressure of staying alive. It is simply not fair to deny people this right, in casual servers that is.
In clan matches, things have to be ensured fair. It is not acceptable to take the risk of having one team report the others position while dead. This is why in clan matches (where winning counts) ghosting should be dissallowed (with an acception). The best way to do this is to put a 15 second time limit on ghosting. Right when the player dies, he should be sent to the location in which he died for 15 seconds of ghosting. This way he can checkout how he died, and that such information. After the 15 seconds, he is sent to a first person POV of one of his team mates.
Read my solution posted at the very top of the first page, and everything is explained clearly. If read carefully, it will occur to you that ghosting is an important part of the infiltration learning process, and with the server side option of disabling it, it is possible to please both worlds.
