Democracy is flawed because fools are always the majority. Also it is an inherently inefficient system as elected officials spend a disproportionate amount of their time getting re-elected instead of serving the public. Making a lot of noise and huffing and puffing pays a far greater dividend votewise that any amount of real, tangible action ever would.

Coummunism\absolute monarchy\dictatorships are flawed because power corrupts. An ideal situation would be a single president for life, ruling for the people with the interests of the nation at heart. Who selects this person? People who want power are usually the ones who don't deserve it.

Why is it surprising that intrinsically flawed creatures like us can only govern ourselves in an imperfect way?

Liquid Night, good point, but power corrupts in a democracy too. You need to strike a balance where the officials remain in power indefinitely, so they can concentrate on keeping the people happy, and the people of communities vote on the important issues in their immediate are. This is my idea of a good system:

No reelection campaign, and the voting areas are kept small enough that the personal interests of the people in each area are kept in mind at all times. Hell, if they don't like it, and if the person is legitimately corrupt, then they can revolt. People have always had revolutions before, and they've always worked.

I see where you're coming from, and I think limitations on the kind of ammunition soldiers can use in war is ludicrous - it's war, not "lets try to make them not fight us without hurting them time". (NOTE: this doesn't include biological and nuclear warfare, if alliances of countries decide to make it clear that anyone using these indescriminate weapons will see their opposition increase fivefold, that's just peachy with me.)

But when CIVILIANS are getting bombed, gassed, and slaughtered on a large scale by governments, something is seriously wrong. When that happens it's gone from trying to kill the other guy to either trying to kill innocent people that the other guy cares about, or just plain genocidal lunacy.

The bigest problem in my mind, is curuption.

Basicly most every form of governtment, would work, even given the fact that the masses, are mindless morons.
