I decided to make this post in regards to the upcoming Unreal Tournament Expanded Multiplayer conversion; I honestly have no idea how far into the project Free Monkey has gotten, but as an Unreal II Expanded Multiplayer fanatic and former Unreal Tournament series player, I thought I should express my appreciation for this effort; I also ask that everyone else in the community to please do the same, because it appears that no matter what any of us say and argue, the production of this project seems to be inevitable, and even though I have my doubts, this cannot be prolonged; since these talented people stepped up to the plate with a potential "cure" for what some of you believe is the "terminal illness" of this wonderful game, I encourage all of you to uplift these people with words of encouragement. The last things these people need are words of mockery and discontent.
Free Monkey know this game as much as we do from what I know of them, and with personal vendettas and community divisions aside as well as grudges and philosophical orations, many of us know that this project can show what Unreal Tournament fanatics have missed out on, and we can step into the new scene proud, knowing that many of us stood by the original game no matter how much people scorned and degraded it, and we can show the Unreal Tournament players exactly how to XMP, veteran style; so feel free to wear a tag on your name that says something like, "Original XMP Player," and say to them, "I'm Rick James, bitch!" because if the gameplay and whatnot replicates those of XMP, the new ground is our territory, the only-UT2k4-players will just be foreigners on our turf, because we played the game, knew the game, owned the game, and made the game; the classes will be there, and not one of them can run around with maximum health and armor with 50 weapons, walljumping all over the place and all run at the same speed; no more UT-one-man-army-with-the-power-of-God; we can show them how to work as a real team...and even spam like certified professionals! If all goes well; the only primary differences should favor us; better performance, better pings, better servers; just hope for the best.
We, the players, kept this game having a pulse, and it was we, the fans, that made the new maps and bonus packs; I feel safe to say, Free Monkey, I have your back; these generous people have what it takes to justify the greatness of this game, and we all need to support them, even if all you can do is encourage them through text on a screen, because if we all give them what we can out of us, they will feel better and work harder with our support, we can all be apart of the birth of the new product, and know that because we helped, the legacy of XMP will live with all barrels blazing. I have no problem with forking out money for UT2k4 to play this; the companies can suck the money I would to them and dwell in a lie, because that money I would give is not for them anyways, but for Free Monkey and the XMP community.
