Think I've just created the ultimate movement system for UT

Quick analysis of UT99

*Feels like you running fast.
*Dodges are fast and short
*You don't slow down if you try to bunny hop.You move at the same speed still.
*A slight increase in airtime when jumping (lower gravity feeling). Jumps also feel like they've got actual momentum to them (less aircontrol?)

Anyone have the values for UT99's aircontrol?

I've played a bit with the aircontrol a little, I tried giving a lot of air control, but that made the game feel extremely floaty and it got boring fast.

Than I tried lower values, less air control believe it or not is actually pretty damn fun, it just feels a bit more involved. It should also be possible to actually shoot someone else using the movement.

Since I did the hold spacebar thingy, the distance you can jump will still be quite variable, but the direction is limited
Once you jump in a direction you can make only minor adjustment so landings will be a bit more predictable.
Feels like I'm playing a brand new UT.

Now I just need to find a way to make the jumpjet sound a bit more bare-able...The core movement feels right.

PS. Still deciding on the bunny hop thing, at least with dodgejumping when you hit the ground, your stuck there for a second. Think I'm just gonna leave it as is, you get slowed when trying to jump nonstop. That's one thing I feel can stay in UT99.

That sounds pretty much like the first Unreal. Just make everything more slippery and say hello to the classic feel :D

Don't know how to do the slippery factor unfortunately...
But I've made a new sound for the jumpjets that won't make you insane from continuous use, removed the Jumpboots pickup and tweaked it to what I consider near perfection. It's pretty awesome now, there's simply no going back to UT3 vanilla or UT2004 after this.

Will do a full release after I've played a few more games. Enjoying myself too much atm :D
