The Legend of the "God Kills a Kitten" Joke.

So, I'm wondering, where exactly did this come up? We've all seen the image of the Domo-Kun's chasing the kitten.

But I guess there was an earlier version.

This is a "jpg" file a friend sent to me, sometime before April 4th, 2000. It was scanned from a poster taken from Fantasy Video of Portland, Oregon. I haven't seen any other earlier references.

So, does anyone know of even older things involving this?

There is a moevement of christians against masturbation for as long as there was porn. I remember something like this back on techtv on Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. Though pre 2000? I dont think so.

Though i feel dirty now i've learned, that i've been pandering to the will of an overly ridiculous religious regime.

And to think, if the slogan was "Every time you masturbate, {black people|Jews|homosexuals|McDonalds employees|whatever other random group of people} kill a kitten", they would be sued in a heartbeat. So, anyone want to sue on behalf of God for defamation of character and libel? (let's see, lawyer fees, proxy fees, we could probably get a pretty fair amount out of any award or settlement...)

Well, according to the religions that have control over most of the human species' extra-sensory beliefs, God is omnipotent and omniscient. Therefore God is responsible for every single bad thing that happens on Earth, since he has the power to stop it.

Even the Jews can't claim that kind of power, let alone black people and homosexuals.
