I prefer my desktop background to be dark and minimalistic. This is my current favorite. I think it looks pretty impressive at 1920X1200 on my 22" monitor.

I always have had space themed desktops in the past but I saw this menacing fella & couldn't resist sticking him on a carbon fibre background, adding a cheesy quote giving him a home on my desk.
