In a Nuclear Missile Silo
I am going to work on a very simple Unreal 2 map that is mainly just for random fragging (think DM-SpidersXL but with more than spiders). However, I need terrain for this.

is there any program designed to make terrain that can then be imported into U2's UED? I am grossly incompetent when it comes to making natural looking terrain (my only other attempt made a humongous BSP hole :D), and while I don't want to download a whole program for just a single valley, I do want to make this.

If i were you id learn to use the UED terrain editor, its by far superior to any other method. FOllow some tuts if you have to.

However should you insist on not using UED, use 3DS Max or a simmilar moddeling program, model it keeping it under an acceptable polycount, and export as .ASE.

However, i highly reccomend learning to UED terrain editor.

That's not possible Jack, the Terrain Ed in U2's editor doesn't work.

Search for a program called Terragen - google will bring it up - and have a look at this tut:

It's the only one I've got to hand ATM, but it'll get you started with what you need to know to generate terrain :) (Since it's actually a skybox tut you'll also learn how to make your own skybox too ;) ).
