I know there are several threads on this forum that have brought up the issue of Team Killing on line and how it is and can become a real problem when you have llamas playing with you who are Team killing intentionally.
I really don' know why it should be a problem at all when all you have to do is have the Server Admin. turn Friendly Fire damage down to Zero...then there is no more thrill for these people when they can't destroy a game for the mature players.

I know the Friendly Fire Scale is not an option in the mod as it is now configured...but the adjustment can be made if you go into Infiltration.ini and find [TeamGameInfilgamePlus] section and read down till you come to a line that says "FriendlyFireScale=1.000000"

Change that line to "FriendlyFireScale=0.000000"

NO MORE TEAM KILLING!!!

I know this is not completely realistic, but neither is intentional Team Killing...
This would nip this problem in the bud before it gets worse from these idiots that are doing it.

I know this has to be done by the Server Admin. for online or lan games...I don't understand why there would be any resistance from mature players when this is the obvious answer. I did it for my offline games because the bots kept doing it accidently.

Voting is OK, especially for removing people who are completely obnoxious...but identifying people who are intentionally team killing is sometimes hard to prove...
FriendlyFireScale=0.000000 takes them out of their game plan!!!! Why don't we try this for at least a short time???

Well when the voting is fixed they would have to put it back agauin, i mean inf is about realism and blue on blue is a big part of that.

Realism????

Well, how realistic is it to have people on you own team who are intentionally killing you???

It would only be realistic if they were spys from the other team who had infiltrated your squad...hey thats real Infiltration!!!..A New Game Type...maybe these team killers are on to something.

I don't think so....

Jody:
I see your philosophy, but the problem is that people don't want to sacrifice the realism of team damage (accident's happen, and friendly fitre is part of that), in order to deal with some stupid TKers.

Once the voting system is fixed, we'll simply be able to oust the TK as'sholes.

Compromise!!!

Friendly fire accidents do happen in real war, as we all can observe from the accident in Kuwait this past week during exercises, but intentional friendly fire is probably very rare...in fact both are rare...

If you don't want to turn friendly fire off, then compromise and make the damage a small percentage, say 10-15%.
If it's an accident, it's not fatal, if it's intentional then it'l take a real effort by TKers to kill someone on their team and it will be obvious to everyone...
Then vote them off the server (they'll come back somehow though...that's the attention they want).

FriendlyFireScale=0.100000 would be a good compromise setting (10%)

If friendly fire accidents happen more than 10% of the time in real life then something is VERY WRONG!!!! These soldiers need to go back to Boot Camp!!!

Indiana. Kill me please.
I have yet to see a case of someone intentionally team killing, and accidentally killing a teammate isn't a common probem (I usually don't get mad if they simply say sorry or something so i know they didn't do it on purpose). If someone does start team killing, we can always just vote them off.

Read Buddy Pickle's Thread on (Spam)man

I have had it happen to me while playing I think!!
You don't always know for sure unless it keeps happening. With 2.85, you are not told who kills you.
The more popular Infiltration becomes, the more prevalent TKing will be!
Read Buddy's thread below...it can and does ruin the game for everyone on the server.

Great Suggestion Enzomatrix!!!

Friendly fire punishment would stop the TKers but some will probably say that's not realistic...

Justice, but not realistic and requires more program code, and another patch...long time coming.

Is it possible to have Friendly Fire types as a voting option? You could have the following choices:

1)FF on
2)FF off
3)FF does damage to yourself

Usually it'll be FF on, but when stupid intentional team killers come on, we could change it 3. That'll take away all their fun and they'll be forced to play normally, or leave and go to another server and have the same thing done to them.

Jody you are missing the point. Once VOTING is fixed you can vote TK's off the server. Once that is fixed there is no excuse for not having full 100pct FF on.

Inf is going for realism that's why it's there in the 1st place.

100 % FF

I would say that putting FF to 0 % would ruin the game and make it look like (*shrugs*) quake or something.
At least I think a second time before shooting at an enemey through my teammates. If ff is not on, everyone opens fire, and ruins all tactics. But with FF you need to make sure who is the enemey and not to harm your friends.

BUT about the voting system. We need to know who killed who in order to vote people off a server. It would be great to have that info on the team/stats page, so you know if it was intentional or not..

I am for friendly fire punishment on public servers. It's not realistic but after my last experience I have to admit I prefer it:
One team Woodland the other team Russian Tan (fair skins and the difference really is noticed easily enough).
But you won't believe how often I was shot by my own teammates even at close range (no, I didn't use the buggy 2.82 model). It was more often than by the enemy.

It's nice to know they get the punishment for their triggerhappiness (or in some cases stupidity) not me. In real life still their team mate would be dead but they'd also had to take some consequences.

It happens because those idiots just start shouting "\/\/H4T I5 T|-|i5, T|-|3 5Kin5 L00k T3|-| s4|\/|4" Rather then actually using their eyes.

They are easilly distinguishable if you have more then 10pct eyesight. (Having brain matter also helps a lot).

1) punishing TK'ers is a worth goal, but those who carelessly step into the line of fire deserve to be shot. This was a major problem in CS, because everyone wanted the kill, they'd run infront of each other all the time.

2) I haven't tried it, but does disabling FF still allow bullets to pass through your teammates? In CS, NoFF meant you couldn't shoot through your buddy, but the bad guys could mow you both down in one burst.

I have been playing Infiltration since 275 released last summer. I have never been any good at CQB, reason... when I play the game, I really get into it.

I have D3D Surround Sound and I have an excellent set of combo headphones/mic I crank all the way up. I hear the shuffle of footsteps from all directions, fire from all directions, ricochets, reloading, an empty clip hitting the floor, a selective fire switch rocking to one position or another. I GET INTO the game. I sweat, I get nerves and I spook.

The problem is that when I'm on the edge like that, I catch movement and it's shoot first, ask questions later. This was a VERY real problem for me at first because the camo on many servers looked damned near identical. Either urban and black, or russian tan and woodland, which, IMHO, are a very poor set to put together. At range, it's difficult to tell.

Hell, I've been TK'd by some VERY competent players who simply had difficulty determining between the two dark camo schemes at range. Friendly fire does happen, and it is realistic, and when it happens, I've never seen it be intentional.

I've never had an ally walking next to me, who knew which side I was on, turn and kill me. TK happens most often AT RANGE, when determining the difference between camo schemes is difficult, or when an ally is concealed and moving slowly.

Most of the friendly fire shooting incidents I have occur like this.

I play for an hour on the blue side and then a map changes and I'm red. After an hour of fighting on blue team, I kinda end up conditioned, and the first round of that new game, I might shoot someone who is on red team.

Most of the people we play with are good people, and never intend to TK. 9 times out of 10 a string of profuse apologies follow any TK. And that in and of itself, I think is proof of that.
