Taking down the SG Servers TDM-only Server

Shan to please the TDM crowd with the likely move to DTAS-only i have a few ideas as well as a few general ideas for improvement:

a. Put more tdm style maps on, also you can eliminate the bots and make it tdm till you have 6 players like on jgkdo.

b. Can you change the distance within which one has to be of the flag to capture?
thos would allow you to put favorites like modernday gladiotar and kazakhstan and siberia on without impairing game play, as well as other not so large maps.

Maybe get someone to agree to be in charge of finding more new interresting maps and taking out the ones that people dont like. IM sure you could find someone to do this as well as make sure the camos fit and so on. Maybe mix up the maps list once in a while too.
And remeber those crazy mondays you used to have?
how bout a new map trial monday! Every monday after 9pm eastern or so new maps will go on, like 8 of them and there will be an open vote (can you config this with the qa menu maybe? that will chose a map but not launch it and save the info) to keep one of the maps as permanent.

Also maybe make it possible to vote for the 2-way attack style dtas KW was walking about over regular, Beppo said such a mutator wouldnt be to hard to make, unfourtently im worried about how tactical such an approach would be, sounds more like an all out rush to me. Maybe make the time needed within flag range 1 minute? this will allow for the teams to adopt the following strategies:
Both Rush, 1 of them rushes and defends while other goes slow and attacks tactically, and both go slow and attack tactically.

a. I think this would be a great idea; TDM for few players, DTAS for many players. Perhaps even a maplist switch!

b. It was discussed a while ago that 15m made the matches even for attackers/defenders, otherwise defenders would have it too easy. A line-of-sight with the flag idea was suggested also, but that would lead to weird flag placements.

@derelan im suggesting decreasing the amount for smaller maps, like moderngladiator or flagstaff or siberia in which capture would other wise be to easy.
For example on a map called portugal on DTAS, which we have played if you remember it was easier to capture then to defend:
me and captcool and a bot vs you, shan, and mjolk won almost all the attacks but only one of the defenses i think, simply because there is to many places to capture from and to few places to establish a good solid defense.

There are several things going on in this regard right now. I am hoping someone will step in a put together a vote mutator that will allow people to vote on gamemodes, such as TDM, DTAS or EAS so majority will rule.

As far as the TDM server, it looks like enough members of the community may be stepping up to fund the server. If that happens, the server will be run by the community so there should be plenty of people to control the map list, etc. I won't make those decisions any more.

Should have more data on this soon.

So wat about something like a new map monday?
CAn someone make a mutator to allow people to vote for a map (once per ip adress) and then instead of going to the map just have the vote result stored in memory somehow.
This way you can post new maps from like 9pm-12pm we can play them we can vote and most popular one stays permenanent.
Would this be possible thought? a mutator to allow such a vote from the QA menu?

and one more thing dont we have enough servers? Donations to the community should be going to help, and make more real and inf port for UT2004. There is always inf germany for tdm, and if people really want to see more tdm, why doesnt some clan open up its servert to the public for a limited time to play tdm?

As I said, the server will be community supported and run. All changes to the server will be made by those who are financially supporting the server in a private forum on Clan Territory. They will not be made via public vote, since the server will be available both to those providing financial support and those not. If you want to control the map list or the server config then you help pay for the server...otherwise you play as the payers configure it. That seems fair. And, for the record, I have not solicited anyone to give me money to run the server...this idea came from community members, not me.

As far as the map vote on the server I am funding, I prefer to wing the server management. I have a lot of things I do that do not involve the game server so I am not willing to tie myself down to doing any specific thing on any specific day. I generally write down people's suggestions and implement them all at once when it is convenient.

In the end, based on what I have been told by community members, they are willing to pay the $5-10 per month to have a server that they control that has good ping, etc. I would love to assume people play on my servers because of my magenetic personality :) but I am forced to beleive it is because of good pings and good server performance and getting to play with those who frequent the servers because of that. They are willing to pay for that and I don't blame them....obviously, I am too. If you are not or you want to direct your money to the Infiltration team, I more than support that and would encourage it. They need all the support they can get. This community will really grow quickly if all of us start to give what we can to it. I figure I get a ton of enjoyment out of playing the game, talking or the forums and trading mails with everyone here so I am willing to pay to ensure that continues to happen. Thankfully others are too. That is why this community will never die. Running servers, developing mutators, making community weapons and authoring new maps are supporting the Infiltration team. I am sure they would also appreciate any cash we can send their way too tho. I would suggest they put a Paypal donation on their homepage...I am willing to kick in some cash now and then.

hmmm, How bout we start doing some kind of fundraisers to help the server etc.
If there is enough people near by you could do lan parties an so on.
ummm, seriously i dont have any good ideas but im sure someone out there knows a good way to raise lots of money, short of charging people for inf. :D

One more thing:
Another thing i have noticed the more rapid occurances of people who are immature and inable to play a game that is made for fun. IM not saying im never one of those people, and i am often rediculous and stupid, but i am never truly serious about wat i say either.

I dont want to mention any names but i think its quite ridiculous when one is trying to lets say discuss a weapon or an aspect of the game and people who cant handle it (you know who you are) have fun spaming the discussion and talking ****.
In short if you dont like what people are talking about dont listen, if people arent talking **** to you then dont talk ****, and just remember its a game we play to have fun.

if you have problems with your people skills in real life and cant make friends or something dont take it out on others.
Just remember that you havent met any1 online in person or seen them so give them the benefit of the doubt.

Im not saying i never do talk crap, but when i do i tend not to be serious and hopefully wont be serious. Id like to say it again its a game, made to be played 4 phun!!!!
