Continuing on with the knife theme:

Spyderco Manix 2. I really wanted to try the bearing lock, my previous knives have all been liner locks and I'm really not a fan back locks. The action on this is smoooooth! The lock slider is a little stiff but I expect that to loosen up nicely with some use. I ordered the 156CM hollow grind blade but received the S30V steel, not sure whether to keep it anyway, it's supposed to hold a razer edge longer but be more difficult get get it that sharp to begin with.

Spyderco lanyard, looks smart enough but I don't know if it'll bug the hell out of me when using the knife.

I also grabbed a Lansky rod sharpener, I've jot a few different whetstones/diamond sharpeners and various types of steels but I've never tried ceramic rods.

I also picked up a Chinese Spiderco, the Byrd Tern a couple of months ago just for an EDC. In all honesty it's pretty good for the price and I'm quite happy with it.

I have been offline (on my main rig) for almost 2weeks. My old multi-proc/multi-core socket 939 opteron server (ancient I know) died taking out my main HD as it did.

Built a new system on a budget...

TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB HD

All in less then $300

I guess my last big ticket purchase would be this monster:

http://reviews.cnet.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3/

I'd had an iPhone for almost four years, then I got an HTC One last May. I liked it but I wanted an even bigger screen, and I got to play with a friends' note 3, so I settled on that and went on a contract for it (something I always said I hated.) Absolutely will never even look at an iPhone again. It's either Android or I'll do without.

Huge, gorgeous, customizable out the wazoo. Nothing to dislike about it.

Some 5.10 Galileos. My Miuras are great, but I took a long break from climbing and so I don't have the forearm strength to work on really tough routes and bouldering problems, so I figured I'd get a more relaxed shoe that's easier for climbing a long time in.

That is what I am gonna upgrade to when I do so. Had the EVO for 3 years, I was gonna upgrade about now but I spent the money I had saved for it on the new PC parts I needed.

I got my wife the note 2 about a year ago but I am not as fond of it, mostly because of the case design which is silly sure, but the 2 looks like 2005 case wise to me. I have had the opportunity to use the note 3 a bit and find it to be an awesome device. With a much nicer exterior design.

I just came here to post this!

I rarely play DLC's (f*cking hate the state of gaming today with DLCs and microtransactions everywhere), but TLoU is just too good not to pull the trigger on this.

And what an amazing 2.5 hours it was. Excellent contrast between the sweet, innocent, playful Ellie and the hardened, battle scarred Ellie of today. Loved the bonding between her and Riley, just very sweet and charming. And the fact that Naughty Dog had the balls to throw in

that kiss

Just kudos to them.

The ending, while quite powerful, left me a little disappointed. It was a bit too abrupt for my tastes.

I had hoped for a scene where Ellie realizes she's immune but Riley is not. That could've been an emotional hurricane right there.

And alas it's over and I am deeply saddened. I'll have to start TLoU and this DLC over again at some point.

that kiss

Which is especially hilarious, I thought, because there were complaints about Ellie looking too much like Ellen Paige and then at the same freaking time she comes out as a lesbian, there is a lesbian kiss here. Awesome coincidence.

Nice system you have there, for the price

I got a similar 2nd desktop: Asrock 970, FX-6100, 8 GB Kingston, 1 TB Western Digital Blue.

Yes! I thought the same thing. That was so weird.

Though I'm not really convinced Ellie is a lesbian. I mean sure there's something "more than friendship" between her and Riley. But she's only 13. She's in those experimental teen years. Not to mention the whole post apocalyptic world thing. Riley's probably the only emotional connection she has with a person.
