My guess is the breakdown with Atari was involved in how much extra content Epic made for UT2004. Firaxis said Atari wouldn't let them do half the support they wanted to do with Pirates! so they said screw it and jumped ship.

As to playing UT2004 online....well it's been out a while...there are shiny things afoot to capture gamers limited attention span. I know it's pretty much tapped out for me...I still pick it back up once in a while though. But my 56k is not a place for action gaming.

Bah Bah and more Bah. Online numbers mean jackdung to me. If your worrying about online numbers instead of trying to enjoy the game for what it is, then you have massive problems. To my understanding, a person buys a game to enjoy it, not to buy it based on how many play. Look at classics like Doom and Quake, there numbers are less than 100 at a given point in time and yet people still play it, why you ask, because they are fubidy fun. Also consider all the unlucky individuals who still have 56k or even worse 28k *puke* play the game offline.

I dunno about that. People are cattle and just go with what's popular, so if they drop fifty bucks, and there aren't enough "numbers" then they'll be very disappointed.
