Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has been patched to version 1.02 across all editions of the PC game. Among the noted changes:
  • A *LOT* of disconnections have been corrected in Coop mode.
  • Maximum username length was inconsistent with the one used on ubi.com web site.
  • Fix session connection issues when connecting to an online game.
  • Fix impossibility to join a game (and the user having to hard quit the game) after joining a game that he was banned from.
  • Ingame chat should now be replicated properly.
  • Maximum timeout has been slightly increased to help low-end machines connected to high end ones.
  • Corrected crash when saving in a Coop game using a wrong Game Saving functionality. Note: In order to save, you must open the Pause menu and save from there.
  • Fix some issues with event not happening the same way on the two computers, thus resulting in a disconnection.
  • Fix some issues with passworded online games.
  • All Seeing Eye support has been implemented.
You can obtain the patch from WorthPlaying, 3dGamers or Filefront.

Didn't this game just come out? This is what I am worried about when it comes to Pariah. The day after it releases they'll already be a patch ... I just know it.

- It's been out for about 3 weeks now.
- Looks to me like they're just fixing some crash and join bugs. Keep in mind that there about as many different computer configurations out there as there are people using them.
- Patches may seem bad on their face, but a company that supports its product after release should be commended.

Good point. Well then expect to definitely see a Pariah patch soon after it is released ... funny though how I haven't seen any patches for HL2 (maybe CS but I don't play that) ... I guess that is the result of 5 years of development.

Err, there's been several automatic updates available through Steam.

For HL2 the SP game ... I play it alot and I don't recall that ... but okay if you say so.

Edit: I think I remember one update but that wasn't for a while after the release back in November.

Yes the SP game, of course most of the updates available are for the multiplayer components plus a few for the source engine itself. One of the issues I remember them trying to address (in more than one update) was the 'skipping' that occured when saving the game.

But besides, it's almost unheard of that a major game title would be left unpatched, especially when it's a flagship title like HL2. ;)

btw Valve has never fixed the sound stuttering bug that thousands of players are plagued with... They may have reduced it but it is still there for A LOT of players. (just check the Steam forums)

But it did seem to completely disappear on my system right after I did a major upgrade to top of the line hardware, so I'm not complaining.
