ok you are talking about the numbers above the bars?

the numbers / values of the personal energy and stamina are worthless information. bars are enough.

For the love of god, bring back the old hud! I miss it so :(

The only thing i look at on the current hud is the artifacts. Everything else takes too much concentration because some bars go 1 way and others another. The current HUD just isn't intuitive or clear. Add that to the fact that it takes up FAR more room than u2xmp's ever did meaning it cuts down on the amount of the game-world u can see

Nice comparison SwiftPaladin :)

the bars going in different directions bothers me. it feels way too cluttered... the hud isn't something you are supposed to concentrate on, it's supposed to give you quick and easy information.

I think a happy median of the two is order once all the other thiings get sorted out. The whole 'motif' of the old one is very nice, but it's not immediatly obvious what team you are on with it, and some vital indicators are put on the top of the screen, a big "ugh" for me.

I might MSPAint up a mockup HUD that I'd like to see...

According to a thread on INA, Raptor says the problems with the old HUD was that it didnt' scale nor did it show what team you were on.

One way to take care of that is to just redraw the HUD with a red version and go from there. The U2 hud is Blue anyways to start. I don't know much about scaling it, but I didn't think it was hard to read at high-res (not sure about low res though)

It's amazing what boredom wll accomplish. Here is an mspaint mockup of a hud I had in mind. I might do a photoshop mockup (i.e. one that doesnt' look like crap) if I get any more bored.

some generalization:

no horizontal stuffs on the bottom of the screen, top of the screen is a better position.

and reduce the number of vertical bars on the side of the screen
for energy and arti, try not arrange in a straight line. This will help reduce "lines" and create some freshness..

Yep, I got really really bored....

Health is in lower left, shield goes right about that (in numbers)
Ammo in clip is in lower right, ammo left in backpack is about that (again, in numbers) Artifacts are the solid red and blue things surrounding the timer.

To me, a design like this looks a lot cleaner.

EDIT: Seems like I overlooked a few things (some people like their health and shield in bars, ditto for ammo, the energy numbers are extranious, etc) I might make another verison...

I dont care anymore about which HUD. It grew on me and I got used to it. Just make the mini-lap a lil bigger and name tags on teammates and all is well

This is just a generalization. Basically showing in effect what I'm talking about. Looking at the picture isn't exactly how I think it should be, just an easier description is all. The note on the picture state my thoughts.

I personally couldn't care less about the HUD. It's not obstructive, but it could be better. Whatever you know, it gets the job done. These are just slight little criticisms of mine.

Eh..

At first I liked the new HUD. Then I found that in game I didn't use it because it didn't make the information I needed to know obvious to me for me to glance at real quick while in battle.

The new style isn't bad, although it is bulky. It just needs to have its components (such as health and ammo clip) more obviously available in places where XMP players are used to seeing it in an open area (not cluttered in a corner). Shrinking down some of the bars is also a good idea and I still support a toggle for the old HUD and the new one.

I would really like to be able to use the old hud. The new one is very hard to understand and seems to give too much informatione. but then, i am used to the old hud. Biggest thing in the screenshots is, the crosshair is missing in the new hud :D nah, but it really shows the difference in visiblilty between the new and the old crosshair.

I would guess that many people didn't use the HUD in U2XMP for much the same reason.
