Server spec question

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I'll be getting access to a 2GHz Celeron server with 256MB RAM fairly soon, and I'm wondering if it's good enough to run an inf server on (at least 12 players preferably). The main issue is that UT likes cache on CPUs, and Celerons have next to none compared to full P4s and Athlons, but I don't want to be eating up a lot of the traffic (only 10Gb/month) installing a server just to find it's useless. Any advice?

actually, i think the newer Celerons have at least 128kb of cache. But you're right, it would run very groggy. Try running the server at high priority, if that makes a difference.

Of course, the only way to find out is to try.

Ya, that server will run, but with limited players. Around 10-12 sounds about right. In order to run my server, which will host about 24 players comfortably, I am using an AMD XP 3000+. Infiltration loves the CPU. :)
