It's difficult to a) get any range on anyone with the biorifle, and b) actually dodge their fire. Short thin corridors that give you nowhere to go (and house the bulk of the health pickups), and thin enough to only just let you and a well aimed bio glob graze each other are not conducive to a healthy 1-on-1 DM.

It all turns into a game where both players uses only the Bio secondary, since you can glob anyone who appears from a corner or whatever without them being able to do a great deal about it. The only effective counter, is also using the Bio, or using rockets. In both cases, you still get globbed and killed. The other problem, is you can't hear people with a charged up Bio - but you can for the Impact Hammer, and to a lesser degree, people charging rockets.

Actually I was trying to say that the invincibility and other map features were probably what made the map suck worse than bio. :)

Meh I won't get into this whole discussion but I myself preferred the UT/UT2k3/2k4 bio because of the instant kill. It was so much more satisfying when you shot a big wad at an opponent without them knowing and they just instantly explode. Pure WTF moment.

Thanks for the link Mons. I might try it at some point but I don't really ever play UT3 offline.

It does work online as far as Im aware, there is 2 muts in that pack with problems online but I could really use some logs to narrow down the problem. Not that it matters a great deal with this rewrite.

I would appreciate it though if you could mention it to any server admins whos servers you play on. I could use more feedback on how to make it better in that regards, plus if they put it up you can test it with some peeps and let me know how it goes :)

UT classic bio was hilarious because of the chain reaction with the smaller blobs,
and the 99 ammo limit made it even better.
I like UT3's bio because it's blob is bigger and easier to hit with, but I miss the explosion effect the of previous ones.
I've only had one or two people run into me and kill me after I gooed them, but it needs to explode and do a decent amount of splash damage, that way it's riskier in close-quarters.

I'm pretty sure you can shoot blobs out of the air, but that won't help in narrow halls or close quarters.

Bio is just different now. In exchange for not killing you at point blank, it also only kills anyone very near the target, and only after time. It's not a crowd control weapon anymore. Hence, having that stripped from it, not dealing self damage is a fair trade IMO.

They can still crowd you once goo'd, they just gotta try harder.

I like the changes to bio, because they give the gun more of an individual purpose, and really make it it's own weapon, and not just a flak bomb, that travels slower, and does more damage.

I can get killed a lot by my own rockets and flak shells in close combat. That is kind of annoying and I always have to look out for situations like that. It's a fair trade-off I suppose. Maybe you should rise the skill level to Masterful at least to notice the difference. Inhuman and Godlike bots can be quite entertaining to play against.

The Biorifle only kill one opponent at a time, which makes it a lesser weapon now, but it still does tons of damage to a single opponent. I still miss those multikills that could come from one fully loaded biosludge blob. Mutate it someone, please?

Frankly I love the new biorifle. I also think it's cool how you don't die instantly but it takes a second and you can fire off a shot or two back before you melt. :p

I agree. I was once shot with a tri-rox and the guy who hit me was right in my face. He walked away with barley any damage. I seen someone double-roxed him...and he lived....
