Does anyone have it scanned? I'd like to browse it for any more stuff that was described as located in the final version (such as the Morbfanza map that I heard was described there) and yet scrapped. It seems that people at GWPress had a prerelease version of the game in their hands and I wish to research it a bit more. I need the actual guide to do so.

Morbfanza is something like Morbias and that fan map combined, for the game split into 2 maps. About it.

I have the GWPress book, but I doubt I have time to scan its huge page count....

I think online resources give you plenty.

Dude, I KNOW what Morbfanza is. We ported it to retail Unreal from the beta, RMFX and I. I need the guide to know what else was described in it. I searched over the net - if I considered online resources enough, I would have never posted that topic :D

So...

I ask of you to at least check the guide for any strange stuff that was not in retail Unreal as we know it and post it here... :)

direct text from the book
as I retype it...
..............

Morb Fanza

Number of players: 20 and above
At first glance, Morb Fanza is identical to the Death Fan level, but the fan below doesn't slice you up---it bounces you upwards. However, there's a passage that leads outside and connects with Ariza, making this a huge map. Twenty people or more would be very comfortable here, with the multitude of weapons available. The maps are welded together very well, making this a fun level to play.

There is a Sky 14 dm map, and a Dm Splash, Villa2 is in here too.

I took Splash (but not named that) from the beta, worked on it and put it in RTNP:Search-Prelude.

Gonna check over Sky 14 and see what, the beta has Skydm11 and skydm12, I think both were similar and still different.

Sky 14 similar to Elsinore but has water and some traps.

I think I took one or both of the Beta Sky maps and put them in the Search also.

Any more besides these? :) Sky maps were debugged and ported to retail Unreal as Eclipse DM map for Division, Splash was also finished... Villa was in the addon pack added to the guide and we already have it too.

The back pages has game images and big text.

Your ship has just crashed

on an unknown planet ...

Your best friend has just

been eaten by an alien ...

This can't be real

you tell yourself ...

..........

kinda refers to the Warlord removed from Nyleve.

The rest of the book goes thru the Unreal walkthru shows some of the easter eggs NaliLand..etc, has EPIC folks featured in the back, shows the original box (tho I think a pre-design) of the MissionPak, separate Ued and the 2 books.
Don't think it shows much else not already known.

The DM levels were a download referred by the book.

The book came with the an audio CD of the tunes, one tune is nowhere but on the CD which is a sort of Dance mix.

For that purpose i did buy 2 copies from the Prima's Official Strategy Guide and 2 copies of the Unreal Official Strategy Guide. For that same reason i bought 2 copies Unreal Hard Crash and 2 copies from Unreal Prophets Power.

I do plan to destroy :( a copy per book to be able to scan them in and make them available on the Unreal Texture site. But in order to do so i need to go to a printshop to have the books cut up decently and theres no printshop nearby. I also dont have a timeframe, and theres little chance i will be able to speed up things seeying my health.

But the plan is to have that done, and likelly i will make them available in a low res and a high res PDF file. Oné for easy reading, and the hig res version for anyone that really wants to study the pictures and drawings.

But as said, theres no real timeframe. It is part from a very large project that i started about a year ago to collect any item released for Unreal to have it published in super high resolution on the site.

An example of how this will look like can be found on this page: Box Art

And here is an example of a high res box art: RTNP Unfolded (Warning!, extreme large file)

I already made all needed scans except the scans for the books. And its a large project and i still need to gather tons of info, and of course the webpages still are in the make. And its alot of pages and info lol. And when the time is there, i already planned to go contact you Delacroix for aditional info i might need.

Should you trust me enough, you can even snailmail me the books for me to scan them. I can do 300 DPI scans max if that suits you.

Regardless of the decision you make in this matter, I am at your disposal at all times, feel free to contact me.

Of course thanks for the offer, but for very personal reasons, its something i have to do myself. And at the moment the weather aint too good, but summer will come real soon now, and than ill hope to be able to go to the printshop and have it cut up.

Than it will probably take a week or maybe two weeks to scan all pages in, its after all (didnt check) prob more than a 1000 pages. And actually i always scan at a resolution of 600DPI to make sure it scans deep enough to scan the individual dots.

And i am not gonna make any promise but ill hope to have it done within 2 months. So a bit patience will likelly do the trick here. But as said, thanks for the offer, its certainly appreciated.

P.S. in case you really are interested, you still can get all books, pretty easy and very cheap on Amazon:

Unreal Hard Crash
Unreal Prophets Power
Unreal Official Strategy Guide
Prima's Official Strategy Guide

Lol, that was tight security

So if you simply knew the link to the following page you dont need the password :)

But good find, always cool to see historical stuff like that, and i will add mirrors from these to the site as well.

Today i went to the printshop and had all books cut up, so they can be scanned. No clue when i am done scanning, needless to say its alot of pages. And i still need to find how to after process them, like a pdf file.

But i will start scanning today and i asume i will scan like 30 or 50 pages a day to not stress myself to much. And to have them officially added to the website ill see if i can get permission to offer them the site. As last i could also offer them to Google books and have them added to the Google collection. In that case anyone can get them without breaching of copyright. And i also wouldnt require permission from the authors, because google books are added by bulk agreements rather than single agreements.

But i will start with the Unreal: Prima's Official Strategy Guide than ill move on to the Unreal official strategy guide, and as last ill do the two novels.

Ill do my best, but no promise on the speed because i am simply to ill to hardly do anything.

Sorry to ask, but when do you think you will get to scan them? Especially with your health problems, or did you already scan them?
