S.W.A.T ut mod is released

he is right though, it is rather good, especially for the first beta. The only major things I saw wrong with it were that the hand model sucked, the bots purchased equipment too fast and some skins were a bit fuzzy while some were in great detail. All in all, I like it. It will give me something to play while 2.8 is being worked on

well, I noticed a HUGE error in SW-Avail. it's one of those texture errors where it looks like you're trippin'-out.

though when you get close to it it goes back to normal. anyone else here get that ?

I got the texture problem too, it's realy annoying...
And I didn't think SWAT was nearly as realistic as INF is. And the skins were very hard to seperate from eachothers (CT's & T's)
But it was fun

yeah, I'd rate the weapons more along the lines of AgentX.

Also is it just me, or does the MP5 fire just a LITTLE bit too slow.

Otherwise it's fun as hell, it's like Counterstrike without the smack-talkin' 12-year olds with head-shot scripts.

my $0.02 about SWAT

Yeah..It really is hard to distinguish between the SWAT and terrorist teams. (Usually I'd have to run up to them and see what color the name was, and by then...*bangbangbangbang*...*thud*)
Yeah, I also agree that the mp5 fires a bit slow, but it might also have to do with the procesor...When it's bogged down doing poly calcs everything goes a bit slower, including your gun's ROF...(Do the levels run kinda slow for anybody else?)
Also, I thought that it took a lot of shots to put somebody down, (could be the armor) which turned things into more of a spray-n-pray fest than I'm used to, accustomed as I am to INF's hit-hit-dead gameplay.

One thing that really impressed me, though, was the Hostages, which I thought were done really well. (They seem very thirsty, however...)
One thing that brought the hostage-play down a bit was that the entire enemy team is usually dead before the 1st hostage is rescued, which sorta defeats the purpose..

If it's any indication, I played it for about 2 hours and then went back to INF.

But it is decent..very, very decent. I find it hard to look down on what must have been an incredible amount of work...I'm definitely keeping it around for the next burnout night I have..

what are you guys talking about? The damn thing doesnt work for me. I havent played online yet, so that might be the problem.

1) where I would normally order my bots to attack, the orders menu has been replaced, so they never move.
2) I can't kill bots. period. no matter how hard I try, they don't die.

the maps arent so hot either. u

have a mac...
...but not a clue?

Maybe you should set the Skill higher, adept level bots kick ass.

also you don't have to order them around (though it would be nice to have them back), they just go off on their own.

also the only map that goes slow for me is SW-labs, the rest seem fine.

I think it's because we are on Mac using the 413 Patch although I did get it to work on my work computer, Mac G4. I had the same problem as you on my home computer. I played it for a little bit last night. I ended up duplicating the maps and changing them to DM and playing INF on them. The only problem is you can't use the ladders.

I don't know why everyone's complaining the MP5 fires too slow. Have you tried the MAC-10? That thing is SUPPOSED to fire at 1100+ RPM! Chalk another one up on the fixlist... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I tried SWAT and have come up with the following conclusion...

If you do not have Half Life and was wondering what Counter Strike was like, this is the closest thing to it. It is a Counter Strike clone pure and simple. This is not, necessarily, bad if you like for your counter-terrorist team to have to buy their own weapons before each round. I, personally, hate this idea. The weapons are cool, but why should you have to buy them??? I think it was a bad decision that will hopefully be phased out before the final release. I guess that is why I prefer Infiltration over Counter Strike now.

WizBiz just ousted Darkliege as my hero.

I tried S.W.A.T., and I found it was like Counter-Strike to the t, only with voice acting by 14 year olds trying to sound like 17 year olds, weapon models based on jagged cardboard cutouts, etc. I'm normally very careful in reviewing stuff, and I'll be fair, this is beta 1.1, but dear god, after playing this mod for 15 minutes I quickly made my way to add/remove programs and took it the hell off my harddrive. Its all the little things about it that bugged me -- the misspelling of weapon names, map briefings, AWFUL voice "acting", poor models. The maps were really, really well done though. I gotta give the mappers credit for that.

You forgot about "cocain" Mojo. The guys must have been smoking too much crac or puffing a bit too much marijuan to remember how to spell cocainE. Besides, I have the entire R6 series from Rainbow 6 to Urban Ops. Why do I need yet ANOTHER counter terrorist mod. I have Inf for the dark match, thats it. Even so, it took me like 6 months to break down and finally download it. I got Counter Strike when the pacth was released, but thats because I thought it might actually be good. It wasn't. When will people learn that the terrorist mod is a fad that needs to hurry the hell up and die off. Now if there were only a few more Class Based Mods.....................:) /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
